Dillier should not have gone to the front on the final pave.
Chapeau to them both, and Terpstra bags 3rd, GVA 4th

    Yep.

I'm pleased to see Sagan win, his palmares was missing it and deserved it.

Quick text to Tom Boonen before the podium I'd imagine :-)

    Worst ending ever.

    Rubbish P-R that.

Congrats to Sagan, bad luck to Dillier (should have listened to all us lot telling him to stop taking turns ;) )

It was the least surprising finish out of any possible scenario between those two. I assume Dillier was happy with 2nd, but how can you be when a win is possible? He was still taking turns at 50-odd km/h and Sagan couldn’t drop him so he must have had something left in the tank.

But what do I know, i’m just a knobber sat on the sofa watching it.

Sagan also made that happen. Attacked, bridges and immediately worked.

Not an epic edition but a great result. Well deserved.

Terpstra blew the others away in the last few k. Super strong.
  • Love it. Great ride from Sagan.

My Eurosport feed jumped forward 5 seconds before the line ! I nearly smashed the laptop ! Bastards.

    Anyhoo, great result.

Likely Sagan would have still won but I was surprised he didn't stop doing turns sooner.

The only thing he could have done to beat Sagan in that situation was to hope he sits up and get 6th ahead of him when they both got caught. Working made sense, it was a huge result.

PR is a great race. some duff editions but this like so many others lived up to something rivetting

QS balls that up a bit. but 20/20 hindsight etc. sagan is class... Dillier is a real class act for not getting dropped.

He could possibly have sat up just before they came into the velodrome, but he knew what he had left in his legs (hint: nothing). Before that, sit up and lose the podium.

When Dillier immediately took Sagan’s wheel in the sprint I still thought he was going to do a Hayman.

Magnificent race and it’s appropriate and right that Sagan win this at last.

Loved it - all that was missing was some rain.

So pleased for Sagan, great efforts by Dillier and Terpstra.

Just left there last weekend, will check the blog out, couldnt find anywhere in Bangkok that was showing it
Did you get any riding in? Not the best time to have been here with the smoke. We've finally had some stormy weather which has blown that away.

The blog hasn't been updated for a while. I'd just started getting back into it a couple of months ago when I had a bit of an accident and haven't managed to get out since.

Yeah, he put 37 seconds into them - still 57 back on Sagan though...

Not a bad showing from Phinney, good to see him in the top 10.

Although they did start finessing for 4th. Clear in hindsight that QS should have worked for terpstra though.

Just realised in my moderately inebriated state I'd mixed up Phinney and Vanmarcke. Would have still been cheering the guy in pink on in any event so no biggie.

Meh. I disagree with you but no big deal. It was a great ride by both of them.

pretty decent race is my take.
qs didn't seem to know who they were riding for at times. Cannondale pink hats educated drain pipes did all they could i guess and got what was their due. BMC underperformed.

everyone based their race around QS. guess it inhibits their style somewhat.
