wow - that's how to end an era!0

Official results, and jersey classifications show the 26 still in the race.0

Today go down in history. As the day Carlton cried during the commentary.
I'm not a fan of the super steep stuff as it doesn't produce particularly great racing IMO.
I suppose it was fitting that Bert won, but he was lucky that Nibali was a bit pony today. If it had kicked off between him and Froome earlier it would've been curtains.
Quite a decent race overall.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

The only other commentator I can remember crying was Murray Walker when Damon Hill won the World Championship - but they had known each other for a long time. Does Froome even know who Kirby is?
Oh man. When he realised Bert was going to win, he just went all choked up.
Although, unsurprisingly, some think he was getting like that because Froome had ridden away from the others with Poels. But it clearly wasn't that.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Carlton The Moron's commentary is so horrifically painful it often makes me want to cry.0

Yeah, Sky had sod all interest in Contador as long as the gap was sensible. Poels only hit the front once Nibali started going backwards (courtesy of Zakarin)Twitter: @RichN950 -

Whistles and walks away.......
Well if the KoM can't even make it up the final climb of the shortest road stage of the tour inside the time limit it's piss poor in my opinion and doesn't deserve the jersey. Lopez has been the better real climber anyway, not just hoovering up easy points.0 -
Seems like a young woman was killed today, descending over la Cueña les Cabres."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

carlton was crying cause he knows its the end of an era. Probably the end of his commentatiing career that is after announcing for five minutes that bertie was dropped when he was off the front Cringeworthy.
I do like him and Sean though. good fun.0 -

I'm not a big fan of his commentary but I don't blame him for getting emotional. He obviously loves the sport and obviously loves Contador. It's the end of an era. And don't forget he and Kelly have been following the race round for 3 weeks, staying in worse hotels than the riders, probably exhausted, so it's not a surprise he was a bit overwhelmed by what was a pretty momentous occasion. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
Just been watching the ITV highlights after seeing the race live on Eurosport this afternoon. Predictably David Millar didn't think Contador had been dropped after he made the most predictable cycling attack of all time.0

Superb ride by Contador and a thoroughly deserved win, proper fairy tale stuff. The only thing that could better would be if he sneaked some seconds tomorrow and got on the podium and the way he's riding at the moment I wouldn't put it past him. True Champion some might say!
Excellent ride by Froome and Poels too though I suspect even they realised winning the stage might not be a good idea. A couple of ropey days for Froome but I never felt he was in as much trouble as some were saying.
I know some criticise the super steep gradients but I think today showed that if the riders have their gearing set up properly it's a good test of climbing ability.0 -
Those of you that endure Carlton deserve a medal. I much prefer ITV. Guess it helps I'm usually only able to watch the highlights in the evening and ITV4 repeats are easily available on their app.0

There's talk of Nibali cracking some ribs when he crashed. What's the likelihood of him not starting tomorrow?0

He'll ride, Luke Rowe did virtually the whole Tour this year with broken ribs - Nibali won't pass up a podium because of them with one relatively easy stage left.0 -

Carlton K is an absolute f-ing idiot.
Hopefully that's the end of Contador as promised.
Froome's getting older and was looking a bit more beatable this year, certainly this win wouldn't have been anywhere near guaranteed without him having the strongest team.
It's such a cold win though, as good as he is on the bike he's lacks any charm and warmth off it, this and being the face of a soulless corporate winning machine only loved by people equally void of personality doesn't help.
The achievement feels like nothing more than a passing statistic as far as emotional engagement goes.
Glad he did it though, and such a cool thing that Contador will be off the screens at least here in the UK. Cheat.0 -

What does him taking EPO have to do with the quality of his commentary and punditry? Seriously.0 -

How squiggly is the line between Nibali's off and Contador suddenly being 40s up the road?
The lack off moto/pictures with Contador at those precise moments is something of a mystery given today's coverage ...Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it.0
