Who remembers when the Tour coverage was sponsored by Kronenburg Seize Cent Soxiante Quatre? First French I learned that.

The only big number in French that I understand and can say. The only other French numbers I know are 1-30 * which were learnt by rote.

    * and of course the special number for adventurous mummys and daddys.

Can Landa still take 2 seconds of Bardet to clinch 3rd? I know today's stage isn't supposed to be competitive but 1 or 2 seconds is do-able

and knock a French rider off the podium... no, I think its safe to assume that wont be happening
The only way Landa can get a few seconds back is if there are some gaps in the peloton. So all Sky have to do is make sure Landa finishes just behind the sprinters. If Bardet then gets on the wrong side of a gap that's his own fault. Landa can't gain the seconds, Bardet can only lose them.
This was my thinking. Just in the vain hope of keeping it interesting apart from the last couple of hundred metres.
Sky help a sprinters team, keeping yellow up front out of trouble and "accidentally" cause a split. Maybe.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

These Frenchies are crazy. What if the peloton had crashed into that virtual pool?

    edited July 2017
where are the crowds - so far on the circuit I have only seen a few large controlled bunches and then around the Arc? Is security super-tight? There didn't seem to be anyone apart from police on the Champs.

edit - They are pushed back a few metres under trees and camera didn't catch them from aerial shot

Given recent events in France I imagine security is somewhat tight.

If Bardet falls, the race on the Champs will be neutralised for the GC.

None of the team buses can get into Paris, for some unspecified reason. That's going to put a bit of a crimp on the party.
Meanwhile all the wives and dignitaries the teams have invited are milling about "like an intermittent garden party in the drizzle" (DK TV words)

I think that something might have raised the already high security. They just showed Place Vendome from the heli and it was empty - on a July Sunday there would normally be lots of people there

Isn't that closed off for the buses? Which aren't there...
