Quintana is there, he was part of the Brown Shorts raid. But he is alone, with no team mates.

Meeeelar and Boulting called it right at the start of the day, saying it was their home territory and they knew all the descents inside out. I have a man crush on their commentating.

I,m watching the race in the Netherlands on the Dutch NOS channel and the commentators are talking about the AG2R team as having specially prepared tyres for the descents, even suggesting there could be spikes in them. Anybody know if this is true.

    SPIKES???

    This isn't Ben Hur.

Given the peloton got all sniffy about disc brakes being dangerous, it's hard to imagine them welcoming spikes on tyres.

More likely that they just know these roads really well as Chambery is their home base. If you cycle around this area you always come across AG2R riders out training.
