Powermeters, I'd sh+t-em!
is dis a rap?0 -
sky to hammer it up the last climb to thin things out and then froome to attack need the summit taking a few GC riders with him and flying down the decant dropping Quintana and porte .0
-
So the general consensus is the downhill finish effectively neutralises the stage, unless Froome wants to use it.
We don't think we'll see anyone making it hard early on (unless Sky do) to try and thin out Froome's support, as the teams that could do so were either heavily involved yesterday (BMC), might not have the power (Astana?) or don't have faith in the form of their leader (Movistar).
Any GC action will be based on a rider simply not having the legs and getting dropped, rather than on any form of concerted attack.
I think I'd pretty much go along with that, with the exception that I think BMC are a little unpredictable and have already been tempted away from conservatism. I don't know if they're still overconfident - either in their team leader or in their strategy/tactics.
It's also worth considering that if any of the GC riders or their teams show weakness early on we could see a far more interesting race.
Things to look out for: Bardet descending.
Oh and lastly - Direct Energie to try and defend the spotty jersey today? No way can Calamity Jane get in the break again after yesterday's heroics, but maybe TV Tommy finally gets away?Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Raining at the finish. Ooooh0

That is a lovely road ATC0

Gary Imlach seemingly unimpressed with Froomes nose plug0

With the bad weather prediction later this could be epic!0

There's a long history of stages like this promising much but not delivering. Hope springs eternal though...0

Yeah, potential for a few spills to shake things up at the end.0

Chris Anker Sørensen says one of the descents (Col de la Biche, I think) is very very nasty. Very quick and very scary.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

And they're off. Demare already off the back with two teammatesWarning No formatter is installed for the format0

Demare immediately dropped.

Demare off the back. Unfortunately I have experience of needing to finish a stage but getting shelled as soon as the flag dropped on an uphill start. Another long day ahead. Luckily that stage race was 2 days and not 3 weeks0

Looooong day for him.
Possibly too long.
Presumably the teammates know when they need to ditch him...0 -
Demare. A man with a long, horrible day ahead of him :shock:0

Oh and according to Rolf Sørensen, Grand Colombier is the hardest climb he's ridden in 11 years of previewing TdF climbs for TV2.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Mori down, looks like a collarbone or arm break. Please cut from the TV pics, he's in agony, we don't need to see that.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Chute.
Mori looks finished Gesink down too."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Gesink was also on the tarmac in that incident, but was up and OK.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

Mori looks to be in a heck of a lot of pain - could hear his screams in the background.
Mechanic gets out, looks at him screaming and still feels the need to ask him if he needs a wheel!0 -
So, huge group off in front. Has Voeckler, Chavanel in it. And Betancur.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0

I don't think we need broken collar bone sound effects. Actually, don't think we need the pictures either.0
-
Yes pictures wasn't very nice seeing him led on the floor in what looked like a lot of pain!0
