What degree of evidence would you find acceptable?0

Like the same frame with another bike firms name all over it.
Alternatively, I'll leave it to you to come up with something.

Not all calls of 'open mould' are snobbish calls, by the way. Just when a new brand pops up out of nowhere its worth checking if you're getting good value, rather than painting for a paint job.
Why the chip about brand snobbishness anyway? Chippy on behalf of others?0 -
This generic/unique frame discussion is interesting. I would suggest that the HEAD frames are probably generic but are they better or worse than if they were unique? They'd more than likely be from the same few factories and in either way the client could ask for different types of carbon, different tests etc. you could design a unique frame with odd geometry or poorly thought out tube profiles or buy a generic frame that worked perfectly for you and for which the supplier offered a great warranty and service (and was painted on a way you liked!).
It's not black and white.0 -

He's got a Cervelo C5.Matthewfalle wrote:Cervelo S5 builds.
What a badly designed piece of junk.Matthewfalle wrote:This thing is stupid. Stupid little brackets to hold the rear brake on. Seat posts so tight you have to walk away for fear of doing what V said with separate stupid clamps. Stupid shins to bond inside the fork steerer. It’s stupid. Even the TT bike was less stupid to put together than this thing and I thought that was stupid.
Better be bloody worth it in the long run or it’s going to Tom’s place to be disappeared and I’ll blow the insurance money on hos n blow.
Now I have to make choice of b/b adaptor (Praxxis or FSA) and then choice of cranks - phat FSA SLK with a red SLK on the but plain carbon everywhere else or plain black slightly less phat Fulcrums (plain carbon).seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Should have bought a Head.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

To tell you the truth, that Head and the Yonex both look really cool and I bet they are better designed than the stupid S5.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Except at least that has a point (get low), I don't really see what the biplane one is doing... Maybe giving a higher position for MAMILs?0 -
The top, flat section of the bar is supposed to flex more, making it more comfortable.0

Don't worry, you can just take a few spacers out and lower the bars... oh wait.0

If you're buying a gravel bike, why are you worrying about aero position?0 -
I bet fitting the brifters and taping it all up nicely is a pain.....Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

It still looks totally sh!t.
If it was on GCN hack/bodge I'd call it a bodge.0 -
I'm not surprised in the conservative world of road cycling how much flak this has got, but FWIW I think it looks interesting, quite cool and a refreshing rethink of the cockpit.

It's not so much a conservative thing for me, it's more that I just hate all these over-engineered proprietary systems designed to tie you in to a particular brand and make it much more expensive to own and service a (fleet of) bike(s). The fact that it looks like **** makes it even easier to disregard.0 -

I really dislike the drop at the end of the top tube to accommodate the lower stack height necessitated by those stupid bars. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
I'd like to give it a try through Arenberg.0

Hey Inseine...seeing that Canyon has given me an idea for your electric bike project.
Replace the brake calipers with a little electric motors that drives the wheels via the disc.
Use some sort of electrical re-generation brake thingy to stop.Half man, Half bike0 -

I guess that depends on what you put in them. I'm not sure those bananas will stay in there too long.0

I’d say anything really. And that mesh will tear in about 7 minutes.
But having seen who makes them I can predict them being out and about en masses very shortly.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
