Only 51kms left in any case.

It's always a week after the Giro, these days.

    How come?

To avoid awkward Flandis style pint-less-blood performances halfway through?

It's been like this since 2002. Prior to that the Giro finished later - in the late 90s it coincided with the last week of the Giro. And in the late eighties/early nineties (when Indurain and Roche did the double), the Giro didn't finish until mid June

    Yes.
FDJ couldn't bring the break back with little or no help from the other sprinter's teams.
Folks probably fed up with being mugged by Bouhanni's lot, who only ever show up at the front with 3kms of wind left.

    Bouwman took the win.

Breakaway stayed clear by 11 seconds. Bouwman win.

Seems like it and the breakaway held off the sprinters - Bouwman winning.

    .

That's a bit harsh. They are a pct team and have Navarro as a climbing possibility. Having some sort of lead out train at all is better than some teams. They are not quickstep !

Really not helping Eurosport pandering to the tennisists. Do they really need two whole channels for melodramatic grunting? Twitter it is, on the plus side no CK, negatives picture ain't so great.

Anyhoo, Daryl Impey fastest so far 29'02". 70 riders have completed the course so far

    French Open > Dauphine TT.

    There, I said it.

Sadly you are not incorrect. Personally can't abide tennis.

In other news Dr Leonard Hofsteder is in 2nd position, 28" down on Impey.

To be fair it's a grand slam tennis event versus a TdF warm up race. They will have paid a lot more for the tennis.

I like all sports, but for whatever reason I find tennis dull and tedious which contrasts with a lot of people.

    Live on Eurosport player.

Yeah, but on Eurosport player there are 9 channels - and all showing the Tennis! Even showing masters doubles (McEnroe etc) rather than CdD!

Right - CdD just started on Eurosport Player - about time!

Contador has just started. He is 44th overall, so 43 mins until de Gendt starts.

Oooh, that was close by Tony Martin. Almost off the road and lost a lot of speed.

Tony Martin finished 20s ahead, so lost a bit of time.

Martin can't be going well to only beat contador by that margin.

For a man who hasn't got it, that was pretty impressive from Richie Porte.
11 seconds better than the World champ.

Well, the traditional, he hasn't got it argument, is that he can't do it over three weeks.
