Skoda Octavia VRS - for family duties

    Bikes

Scwantz's old RGV 500 parked next to Doohan's NSR and Rainey's YZR. And anything that has graced the buttocks of McPint.

then just as it all dies out, I will buy one

No, but I really fancy a day / weekender van. The wife doesn't need a car for work anymore, so giving serious thought to getting rid of her car and getting a van. You're going to tell us why that's a bad idea now aren't you!

yep I'm on my 3rd T4 now had a 2.4d and two 2.5tdi ones, first one I had kept it as a plain panel van used to sleep on a air mattress on the floor whilst on a trip, second one was a genuine 5 seat Kombi rare in a T4,now I have a T4 lwb panel van with a 3/4 rock and roll bed in it,been away to France in it 3 times now for at least 2 weeks, like having one, 40mpg also surf so really handy for getting changed in in winter,do like the T5 but i prefer the earlier shape also not as reliable as a T4,but the T4 is getting on a bit now last one 2003 time, most have lunar mileage now but they are very capable of it,I know some one with a 1995 Caravelle with nearly 400k on it,and he swears by it and still goes all over in it,you can still find sub 100k ones but far and few between now

I'd also like to add the car below. It was first car that myself and Mrs Goo bought together. Best fun we ever had driving. The rag top leaked, the heater was always hot. But it was just great. Worst days work I ever did was sell it.

    Cars

    Aston Martin One 77
    Aston Martin DB5
Torn between either a Range Rover Sport Vogue or Jaguar F Pace Prestige
Another who fancies a customised Transporter T6 but has never driven one. I'd have a shower in it for after cross country running or CX

    Bikes

Sarto Seta as a best bike with Campag Super Record EPS. I'd have fun speccing all the rest
Training bike, I'd get an 853 steel frame built by Sturdy Cycles and kit it out with Chorus

I'd have a few other bikes obviously but that will take too much thought.

On top of that I'd have a decent weight setup, top end VR turbo set up and a warm up / stretching area. There'd probably also be a lot of fishing gear in there and the surfboard I built with help from a mate.

I'd jump on the van wagon but the T5 sportline was a horrible drive, handy van, looks better than others but shoddy drive and overpriced.

Could throw a lot of money at the old car thing wit a
DB5 for the Date (Bond love affair having grown up with a father who was a mad fan)
    Some of those old Alphas
    Renault Aplina
Merc Gullwing and the old SL (I think they are SL)
Torn between a P1 and the Enzo for the modern supercar

Motorbikes (it total ignorance. Completed the CBT then never bought a bike)
    Ducati 999r
Triumph thruxton for the cafe racer

    Edit
The original post are still the first cars I'd purchase

No but used to have an old air cooled VW that was brilliant fun until it literally rusted apart and the brakes failed as I poor led down the road with Bambina in it. Had full beds and kitchen inside.

Just loved everything you could do - early, early morning trips to the beach, bikes in it, coffee, hot chocolates, bacon rolls.

Really, really miss it - so want another but haven't the time/space/know how to get an old one and keep it living, so modern one it is.

Could be tempted by a new Transit to tell th truth and kit that out.....

Oh - RGV250 chassis with RG500 motor in it. Or TZR 250 3MA or reverse cylinder chassis with RG motor in it. Now that's proper.

It's not bad per se, just not magical. I always wanted one and I've had a 180 BiTidi DSG Caravelle now for 2 years. It's ok for a large van. Fast, voluminous. What it's not is remotely well specced, cheap to run, or comfy really. Quite crashy, but it's a van. Mine's coming up for change so rather than buy I'm leasing a Peugeot Traveller. Not as much cache but well specced, better engine and MPG and much cheaper to lease.

For comparison the RRP (which is still mad) of my new one is £39k, just under the high 'car tax' rate. A similarly specced T6 is just over £60k

    Cars:
Ferrari 250 GT California Spider - pretty beyond measure
Integrale - perhaps accidentally one of the greatest cars ever made
Caterham 7 - (but not one that's too mental)
Golf GTI - a classless classic (but I'd have to have the lastest model as and when they come out)

    Motorbikes:
Yamaha FS1E - the sound and smell of freedom. I'd probably have a tear in my eye every time I glanced on it and would start it up just to smell its two stroke lovliness
Triumph Bonneville - mid 60s one, just because I've wanted one forever.

    Bikes:
    Colnago C60
    Custom Tourer
    . . . plus my present bikes
    Wilier Izoard XP

I had one of those for a few years. It was tuned to give about 120bhp and would give most hot hatches a fright at the time. Handling was a little interesting as it could spin the wheels in third so it had to be used carefully. Classic and Sportscar did a feature using my car and really liked it. I sold it about 20 years ago to a friend of mine and he still has it now.
Dream garage now would probably include a Jag XFR estate for family duties, an Alfa 105 coupe carefully modified and updated for every day fun, a 60s Merc SL for sunny days, a Ferrari 250 SWB and countless others. Motorbikes would have to include my Triumph 650 but finished, a Ducati 748R and a silly super moto like a TM. Bicycles would be many and varied, can't decide what at the moment, a few nice old steel framed bikes would definitely feature. A lot of modern carbon bikes don't really do it for me. Certainly a few custom frames would feature. Mind you all of this could change in the next 5 minutes. As stated above, I wouldn't buy a van, with all that money it would be hotels and a valet.

I had the same engine in a Caravelle (14 reg). In Sept last year I changed to a 150 DSG California Ocean and, despite my love of my Caravelle, the T6 is worlds better. It's averaging more than 37 mpg on mostly urban/mixed driving (10k miles in my ownership) and has only chewed one set of front tyres.

I'm not going to argue about the spec/cost issue. I am fortunate that I got a very, very good deal on an ex VW fleet van because the list price with the options that it has would have started with a 6.

Tricky on this, apart from no bikes for me.

I've owned a couple of the cheaper ones out of this lot so am going on experience rather than just desire.

Caterham 620r - utterly mental go kart.
Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 - go kart with a roof and a heater. You can tell a copper how much fun you've had in one.
Mitsubishi Evo 6 - 4 wheel drive V sign to the world and devastatingly good fun track toy with some modding.
McLaren P1 GTR - no expenses spared ultimate track car
Merc C/E 63s AMG Estate - ultimate bike and dog lugger/Q car/donner und Blitzen sound track
Lamborghini Aventador - looks, presence, noise etc
Bugatti Chiron - current ultimate power and speed on 4 wheels. Why not?

Done the car and bike thing.

If I had the means I'd like this

https://y.co/yacht/axioma. Mine for €68 million plus 10% a year of that value in running costs. A friend once said the two best days of boat ownership are the day you buy and the day you sell. I'd like to test that theory.

More realistically I'd like a man cave, wood burner, bar, bike garage with fixed stand and real daylight lights. Pool table and loads of comfortable chairs and sofas. Zwift set up with big screen.
