  • Well. That was...uninspiring.

Albasini could win all the road stages. Saturday's finish is just as easy.
What a turd of a race.
    Bring on Yorkshire.

On the plus side, watching the peleton ride through the rain inspired me to make some hot chocolate.

If I hadn't gone for Spilak in PTP I definitely would've gone for Albasini. Promise. You ask my wife.

A 12 km descent from the start town, then 10 kms on flat roads. Which is understandable given the conditions.

    Do you want blood?

Having descended in a cold rainstorm to the start of an event, I can only sympathise with the riders. You spend the rest of the day trying to get properly warm again.

Grivko, Küng, Armée & Veuchelen have 5'40" on the peloton, 60km to go

Eurosport live in a little over 10 minutes, so expect an outpouring of man love for Uran, 7 different pronunciations of Küng, and CK's blood pressure going through the roof in the final km. Just be thankful Turbo Durbo isn't riding.

    TBH I have done similar.

Modern day kit means there isn't much excuse for bad/cold weather.

If the sport makes "suffering" its USP and I can smash it on a club run in worse weather without crying and giving up I can't see why the pros can't.

Personally draw the line at hail storms. Hail + lycra + descending flipping well hurts. A lot.

It's funny that when the riders complain about extreme weather, dangerous conditions, motorbikes, disk brakes etc, the Internet tells them to harden up and get on with it, no-one is forcing them to ride etc.

But if a rider wants a TUE for a fix a legitimate medical issue the Internet suddenly becomes very concerned about rider welfare, saying they must rest and not risk their health.

I'm the only one moaning about the weather, telling riders to harden up and I've been fairly clear about my view on TUEs.

It was more a general observation about all social media rather than specifically about you.

The thing is most crashes and therefore danger occur because of the fans, riding in a peloton or sprinting for the finish line. Not many seem to be weather related.

It's a fairly consistent POV - "whatever makes the spectacle better for me."

When the weather is bad - the racing will likely be more selective.

When riders use TUEs, it ruins the illusion of them as supermen.
