Absolutely no idea what that means.

Now you're talking garry. I loved the theme tune as a kid and the pretty blond had an effect on me but I was too young to know why. Years after I was convinced she was Heather Locklear but was completely wrong of course.

Heather Locklear was in T.J. Hooker - Wialliam Shatner's frankly emabarrasing attempt to be an action hero despite the middle aged spread.

Steve Austin was the man. Still fit enough to be an action hero in his 50's with an occasional good humored nod to middle age. William Shatner and Davis Hasslehoff tried to follow in his footsteps with embarrassing results.

And while on the subject of cool heros and cool theme tunes - The Rockford Files.

    Great theme tune to whistle.

Rear drum brakes? You do know that the brake drums should be removed periodically to clean out the build up of brake dust, and to clean/deglaze the braking surfaces. Or did you have a leaking brake slave cylinder and resultant fluid contamination?

Not very old or obscure, but I use to enjoy Danger UXB, late 1970's, another excellent Euston Films production.

Ha, I see what you mean :)

Here are 3 comedy series that I thought were good fun, but never seem to repeated:-

    Chalk (1997)
    The High Life (1994)
    The Strangerers (2000)

Although not that old, still obscure.

H.R.Puffinstuff or something like that. I always looked forward to watching that in the holidays. Loving that White Horses theme, very evocative for me but now sounds a little wishy washy compared to Black Beauty.

And this one has to be a contender for best 70s/80s theme hasn't it? https://youtu.be/uLAsBzOOhLQ
  • What about " THE WATER MARGIN" ? mid 1970's on prime time on the BBC in the evenings , Chinese dubbed into English , we only had 2 and a half TV channels then , so it got 12 million viewers !!

This has to be the best Sci-Fi series of the 70s. It probably had the best theme tune and sync'd brilliantly with the opening titles.

    Enjoy

    Thanks for that

Think it was a bit before my time but I had two of the toys.
The big chunky tractor thing, and the flying thing that had the stupidly big single missile at the front.

Can you imagine flying that in real life and firing the missile. What a rush!
    Great toy though.

Quite a few people started their careers in that show.
Jefrey from Rainbow obviously, but did you spot Ben Affleck?

I hope they keep the uniforms for any upcoming remake

I had one of the interceptor toys, but still cannot work out why they were metallic green when the TV ones were white.

Just watched some of the first ever episode. Wish I hadn't as its ruined my rose tinted memory of it.
Awful script. Dodgy science. 70s sexism by the bucket load...... although the moonbase girls......well can't complain too much as this was probable the reason for watching it.

  • I was all ready for the relaunch of space 1999 , in yes 1999. This never happenened and didn't get a mention. Good job I didn't sell the house and buy the rights to it as i was convinced I would rake it in.

Same here, I think I still have it in the loft somewhere, minus the missile.

    Yep...
When 'Space Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation' was posted, I too was thinking of Gabrielle Drake, aka Lt. Ellis.(her appearance in Au Pair Girls is....notable!).

I had the Moonbase Inteceptor and the SHADO universal tractor, both of which I used to aim at our cat (good job I was a bad shot, although the plastic missiles never went far).

I also had a Dinky Batmobile from the Adam West series, a Spectrum Persuit Vehicle (SPV) and the red staff car from Captain Scarlet, the flying car from Joe90, a Thunderbird 2, and no Dinky collection would be complete without the Aston from 'Goldfinger'!
