I saw the recommendations above for the Sony hx-60 which looks good.
I am a big fan of the iPhone and the simplicity it offers in uploading straight to my ‘ library’ in the iCloud. Would love to get a better camera as enjoy taking photos.
Excuse my ignorance, but is there a way of taking photos on something such as the Sony and then uploading to my iCloud?
Thanks in advance!0 -

It's got a wifi function so you can transfer onto your phone. Though given the potential high quality of the photos, I nearly always want to check them over on the laptop before releasing them into the wild.
Just to give some idea of the awesomeness of this £200-ish camera, right click on the first image, to see the detail - OK, it's not as good as a SLR with a £1000 lens, but not bad.
Now right click on this image: it's from the centre of the rose window above, from about 50m, on hand-held zoom.
These were two quick snaps, during a rehearsal I was playing in, so nothing special.
Good, eh?2 -
I usually just take photos just to liven up my strava activities. This one seems to pop and Ive no idea why.

Bit disappointed I didn't get up in the hills today, I've seen some lovely 'above the clouds' photos on friends social media today whereas it was grey and drab down here in the lowlands.0

It was a strange day, freezing and foggy at ground level but almost shorts and t-shirt weather in the sun higher up.0

Yep, wife's first comment was it looked like Scooby Doo and I thought the same. I look like my gut is even bigger than it really is due to the dog's toy in my pocket.mrb123 said:Pross said:Been wanting to try this for a while but don't usually have my phone. As I say, it's not going to match a much more expensive camera & lens combination (you do notice digital fuzz when you zoom right in on images), but for the price of a cheap mobile, and one that easily fits on a jersey pocket, it's a good bit of kit. I've had one or two printed 3ft x 2ft, and it's still impressive.0 -

Underneath the M5 on the Exeter Canal by chance? ( Saw you were an Exeter Wheeler!)
Know it v well ( if it’s the Canal) from many years ago when I used to train in kayaks. Was last underneath it with my wife and my Mum now sadly passed away on a hot summer day a couple of years ago when visiting. ( Am now based in Southampton)

Thanks for confirming this! And am guessing the one of the boat is Topsham!briantrumpet said:

Just on the wi-fi thing - are you transferring to iPhone or Android? I’ve found the wifi function from camera to my iPhone to be extremely tedious and not always successful. The cameras seem to prefer NFC protocol which I don’t think Apple devices support?briantrumpet said:molteni_man said:I saw the recommendations above for the Sony hx-60 which looks good.

Anyone know how to post a pic from your iPhone without blur. I’ve tried Flickr but copying the URL just leaves the link, no picture 🤷♂️Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0

Trial - Click on the photo icon on here, “choose file, photo library, select photo.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

There seems to be a glitch with using the insert photo function to insert the link when using my phone - works fine on laptop, but have tried two different Android browsers, including desktop mode, and it just won't work.

Is that not more to do with the compression on this site?seanoconn said:

If you've got them on Flickr, and can get the Image URL function to work, it bypasses the horrible compression the forum platform imposes.0 -
I’ve no idea pb. I’d need more definition from your trial photo to tell. All the photos on this thread are crisp.pblakeney said:

No. Can't read it. As I say, the compression on photos uploaded here is horrible. You can check how horrible it is by right clicking the photo and opening the photo in a new tab. You're much better uploading the photo elsewhere and using the Image URL function.0 -

Are you pasting into the Image URL box though, as on my screen cap above? That *ought* to display the image, though, as I say, there does seem to be a bug when doing that from my phone.
If you're uploading the image to here, it will be fuzzy, because of the compression.0 -
In Flicker click on share, Embed, Original size, copy and paste.
Ignore. Doesn’t work.

Ignore my last post as I was doing it on my laptop.
This is weird. The phone has less options than the laptop on the web. Why?
The App is no better.
