Today’s tourist tat.
(Flamingos, I think, but didn’t have the right lens to do them justice.)
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Dandelions or 2000m mountain? Dandelions, of course! Plus some flower porn.

Those dandelions planted themselves in good surroundings!
With more cr@ppy weather on its way, I made the effort to get out this (sunny yay) evening. A plan B as the sunset didn't materialise.

Although it's going to be nippy here for a day or two (at least in the mornings), I will do my best to brighten up your screens with some soleil after tomorrow morning's bit of cloud. FWIW, we had winter this morning... here's a morning and evening shot of the same view:

"bit of cloud"? Yeah, right.
At least I spotted a couple of orchids en route during the walk I'd delayed hoping for some sun.

If only the gap in the cloud opened a bit more that top one could have been spectacular

I suspect that if I'd sat in that spot quite a bit longer, I'd have got better ones, but I waited a bit longer and it just turned a bit bland. I liked the gravy black cloud overhead.

Just popped out to get some air and see my house while the washing soaked.

No golden hour. Drizzle, fog and mist all at the same time.

Atmospheric though.
I need a misty moonlit night for a photo idea I’ve got in my head in a graveyard. I suspect I’ll need to wait until autumn now though. I missed a perfect night about 6 weeks ago.

Sounds interesting.
I nearly tried something similar (misty graveyard at night) at a small local church. It’s left unlocked 24-7. The idea was to turn the inside church lights on to illuminate the mist outside. The stained glass windows are protected by cloudy perspex, which I think would unfortunately stop any colour filtering out.
It sounds defeatist but the picture in my head of what it might look like, would likely be better than I can deliver.

OK, going on the French female fans' popular vote, this is the winner today. My soon-to-be-replaced roof (goodbye Mr Asbestos, hello 'antique' tiles) is somewhere in the mélange.

That last bit is the story of my attempts at photography in general. Quite often the photo looks like I wanted on the camera but once I get it on a big screen it will be disappointing.

Today's tourist tat really was that, so instead I'll share the short video I did today (only take) of one of France's maddest roads, at Combe Laval. Ignore the wind noise, but as I was cycling one-handed and thinking about where to point the camera (you'll see why 'straight ahead' misses something), I'm reasonably happy. And I didn't drop the camera, kept if fairly level, and didn't fall down the 100m drops over the wall. Reckon the best way to do it would be as a pillion passenger on a motorbike being driven by someone who knows what they are doing.
And if I knew what I was doing with videos, I'd replace the wind buffeting noise with some suitable music.

Excellent! I was nervous just watching. 😱
I tried it with and without wind plus with and without music. The wind definitely adds to the peril. Music and no wind is much more sedate. Just shows how the senses interact.

After a dreary start, the sun finally broke through. Well, it made him sing...me nearly.
In full voice.

Just MFTT from me today, but gotta get the FB engagement and 'les followers' up before I leave on Monday. That said, two or three vaguely pleasing flower photos from an insanely picturesque 'perched village' (Mirmande):

My sour cherry is just glorious right now.

Yeah, my young cerisier was lovely a week ago. Now just got it doesn't catch a late frost.

Gannets battling the wind and some occasional giant waves. Was going to crop, but probably not enough megapixels to play with, so left it with plenty of negative space.
I once rescued a gannet caught up in discarded fishing gear. Having pulled it into my boat, I removed the tangle of hooks and monofilament. Now free, I carefully lowered it back into the sea, releasing my grip on its razor sharp bill. As a sign of gratitude, it swung its head around, stabbed me with its bill, performing a near perfect nipplectomy. Anyway, It flew away, and my mangled nipple healed, so a happy ending for all concerned.

Ha, a fortuitous assemblage from the Exeter-bound coach...

My young cherry tree in France, hopefully with some not-sour cherries in due course. Plus a photo from Sunday, when it was jolly hot (31C in the shade by the time I got home). The latter almost makes me want to sing "The hills are alive with the sound of music", but I shan't.

Didn't notice the reflection when I viewed it on my phone.

Haha, nor I when I took it. At first I was slightly annoyed, then realised how perfectly it had 'intruded'.

A flora and fauna day. I've absolutely no idea what the fluffy fauna is.

Apart from inadvertently leaving the aperture wide open, I was quite pleased how this turned out.

I did a macro version of the small blue flowers (bottom image) the other day. Forget me nots, which should be easy to remember, but probably not.
