  • Not so much for the photography per se, but on the subject of monumental women... this one looks a bit like she's overdone it, while her geezer takes it all lying down. Mind you, I think she had eleven children (five boys, six girls), so I think we can excuse her.

Perhaps if one felt a heart attack coming on, one could wire oneself up and get ready with the button in hand.

Is it for print typesetting. It looks like the letter blocks have left an imprint? Then again, the rot suggests it might have had a life outside (or a damp shed).

Changeable weather today. Typically, it’s changed for the better now I'm home.

Spot on. Wife does letterpress printing and we 'rescued' a few cases from an old chap's back garden. He had previously done it as a business but long retired and stuff that had been temporarily stored outside (his entire garage and house was also full of the stuff) 20 years ago was now a big stack of rotting cases with weeds growing out of them. The type has all been decanted to a big bucket for cleaning but I thought the shadows left were kind of evocative.

This was the result of the cleaning up.

A few the wife took this morning while I was racing. I like the ‘ice breaker’ effect in the weed.

A lucky break in the clouds, so a photograph of the harbour before the boats are hauled out for winter. It always looks a bit naked without them.
    Lots of seals+pups about.

Nice shades. Made a whole lot better with the inclusion of the boats.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

👍 Yeah, I've tried photographing it numerous times in winter, but invariably delete the photos.

More for the juxtaposition of the signage and the appropriately chunky concrete than any photographic merit.

Guessing the HDR setting was used for #3? Not complaining, it's done well.
I would have expected the Colnago to be in silhouette otherwise.

It was on the phone's auto setting, so no idea what processing was done.

Not exactly beach weather, but the flat light picked out the patterned layers in the rock.

With a little crop that rock could either be hand sized or Uluru. 😉

Ha, somewhere between the two. Very few clues as to the scale, I must admit

About this size (check limpet for scale).😉

I got an amber ping on my AuroraWatch app which means there is a chance of it being visible to the eye in southern Britain (and greater chance of getting a photo). The info is only ever live though so may not apply when it gets dark and the cloud cover is still about 70% so don’t know whether to go out and try my luck later. It would be useful practice before my trip to Norway in November.

Some people around here caught the aurora 4 days ago. The photo I saw was taken at sea level, too.

    Good luck!
