Well, I know where to go when it's a bit darker...
The third one I just like for a moody Sunday morning after the all-night rain.4 -

That'll be the phone, not the operator. Or possibly the Abbey lighting designer.pblakeney said:^^^ Someone/something did a good job with white balance there. ^^^

Thanks. Yes, indeed. Thought that fan vaulting was very much 16th century though... Gloucester, Bath, Ottery...rjsterry said:

The same Rocher de l'Aigle as before, but with completely different lighting...

Various BW pics from some small local churches. No vaulted ceilings here. The top one, perched on an exposed hillside, has gradually fallen into a state of disrepair and looks to be losing its battle with the Welsh weather.
Ooh, a vaulted ceiling.

Tried getting some photos of the blue moon. Headed out with little hope of getting anything due to cloud cover but as I was travelling to my planned location there was a lovely large red tinted full moon with the occasional cloud passing to add atmosphere.
I was hoping to get the moon behind Newport Transporter bridge but it didn’t work out as by time I got there the cloud was more constant, the bridge is having work done on it so isn’t lit up and the moon had got higher to the point that it was no longer impressive.
Ended up trying some night cityscapes and light trails for something different. Some of them look OK on the camera but will have to upload them tomorrow and past experience tells me the camera viewfinder flatters night photos.0 -
I had a similar experience as Pross, but no decent foreground.
Yes, they are colour shots but I may as well make them B&W tomorrow.
When the moon came up it was too late for the the blue hour.

I like the third one down. When I got back the cloud had cleared and I could have shot the moon but on its own it would have looked the same as the ones I did last year.
It hasn’t been a great summer for night sky photography. There may be one more chance to get the Milky Way core in a couple of weeks if we get clear skies. I won’t hold my breath though.1 -

^^ Good job, and you saved the evening once the moon decided not to play ball.
The forecast for next week looks promising for your astro.1 -

Haha. Got you now. Some of those sorts of effigies of dead wealthy people are so lifelike it's uncanny, and I probably ought to spend more time on each monument, looking at faces and so on. I'm sure a lot of them tell quite a bit of a tale.rjsterry said:For context this is the dude she was married to.
Unfortunately although I've taken quite a few photos of them, I've not collected them together in one place, and my memory hasn't registered where the best ones in Devon (in particular) are, though I do remember that Colyton has some good ones.0 -

Darn, can't find any monument photos from Colyton, but this one at Cadeleigh is exquisite:

BTW, welcome back, @masjer - miss you when you're not here.2

In other news, I'd not done this ride since 2015, and I'd forgotten that I got a view of Mont Ventoux from one of the cols. This probably ought to go into the 'cheers me up' thread, as it's only a so-so photo, but hey ho.

Cheers Brain, just a bit of time out.
A bit of beach ‘action’. The BW abstract figures photo, is something I’ve been trying. Basically taking shots of strangers without it being too much of an intrusion, (ie you can’t identify them).
A colourful 'gift' from the fishermen.
