Just a couple of recent ones from my £125 phone that I find pleasing, for different reasons.

I like the second picture. It's almost like a water colour.

The first one however, the park bench is totally ruined by some twit parking his heap in front of it

I was wondering how many benches he had to walk past before he found one just the right size for the composition. The harbour one is very nice. Devon again?

Budeigh Salterton for the bike, Topsham for the quay.

The virtually perfectly central placement of the bike was pretty much by luck... I just plonked it and snapped, trying my best to get the sea level, without grid lines.

Joking aside, I think the round wheels contrast well with all the straight lines. Though it would have been interesting to take it without the bike too, even if it would be even more clichéd.

I think the bike needs to be white or the bench white somehow - perhaps carry a pot of paint. No, seriously, the bike seems to get lost a little against the shade of the bench. That's just me. In fact if the bike and bench were a silhouette, merging together. Who knows? Who am I anyway?
I would stick the second picture on the wall happily. Super composition. Sometimes winter light doesn't pick put enough colour and contrast but this one has Turner skies and nothing artificial in it, super reflection too. Very elegant.

Oh and i'll add, the pale light going through the windows and the shadow it creates on the wall. It's just lovely the more I look at it.

I find the opposite to be true, on a clear day. Much preferable to high, harsh summer light.
Agree with the rest mind...
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

But you're just going to be contrary anyway. That's just you. :D
I was thinking about the light you get early in the morning or late in the evening in summer; it's a richer light and you can get more colour/contrast. Personally, that pale winter light I find difficult to capture but that picture does.

On a serious note, I think that a clear winter's day simply brings those golden hours closer together. And at more sociable hours.

Sleeps during darkness, awakes in daylight. Summer days are long...

If I remember correctly, they were at about 10:00 AM on a January day. January for certain.

Another one I put on the Topsham FB group has been popular, and then I realised that it too has shadowed light, both through the phone box, and through the street light, showing on the wall.

I think picture you were commenting on, I'm also drawn in by the fact that you can see the sky through the two windows lined up through their top floor.
