Hope you don't mind - had a two-minute play with perspective and straightening:rjsterry said:A small glimpse of some blue sky in some very glossy tiles.

The trees doing a good job of disguising the dreadful weather.

Good use of B&W on a day that was deeply uninspiring photographically.0 -
Yup, thanks Bob and Wendy.briantrumpet said:masjer said:The trees doing a good job of disguising the dreadful weather.

I was playing around with reflections in my beautiful 1934 trumpet at rehearsal last night:

If you have clearish skies wherever you are, look NW and see da moon. If you had a decent camera set up, the contrast of the pale blue and da moon would be well pukka innitseanoconn - gruagach craic!0

All I’ve managed this week and sums the week up nicely. It felt like every time I saw a break in the weather to walk the dogs or go for a run the rain came down again

Did you use bracketing on that?0 -

Absolutely nothing from me today... a mixture of greyness and work. Pah, must try harder, both me and the weather.0

Yes, wonky bracketing.briantrumpet said:1 -
Loving the low sun for photography, not so much for actually cycling. Had my first attempt at a Brian style selfie. Was did I learn? A 10 second timer isn't long enough. 😉
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.4 -

Haha. I've had a few fails on that front, but one gets better at judging what's feasible with practice. The head-on ones are the hardest, as you've got to ride away, turn around and come back, and only really possible if you press the shutter while you're already mounted, and have a wide enough road to turn in easily. I was quite pleased with getting this one, as the angles worked out as I wanted, with the 6,600ft of mountain behind.

Anyway, on more up-to-date photography, not much to report here, apart from some interesting light, even if the composition is meh.

You do get good light from now till the end of February, if the sun gets a chance. 😉The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I've not got any good low winter sun sunsets for a while... if there have been any, now with the hour change, I'm not home before the sun sets on my working days, and it's been rubbish on my non-working days.pblakeney said:You do get good light from now till the end of February, if the sun gets a chance. 😉

I meant that the sun barely rises much above the horizon for most of the day.briantrumpet said:

My photos above were taken @ 15:00. Although it was only a short window of sunlight. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

There was a spectacular opportunity for a setting sun photo over wet mud flats of the Bristol Channel from the Severn Bridge earlier but the barriers were in the way and 70mph from the passenger seat wasn’t ideal to take advantage. It really was beautiful and I’m gutted I couldn’t get a shot.
Hoping for the best with a walk in the Wye Valley tomorrow.0 -
I remember one like that when I was driving up the M5 one time... sun setting directly over one of the major drainage channels in the Somerset levels and reflected along its length... about half a second of fleeting beauty that seered itself into my memory.Pross said:There was a spectacular opportunity for a setting sun photo over wet mud flats of the Bristol Channel from the Severn Bridge earlier but the barriers were in the way and 70mph from the passenger seat wasn’t ideal to take advantage. This was around 4.15 so not quite sunset but very low and a big red ball that you rarely get in the UK let alone in mid November. The water was just low enough for the mud flats to show through and there were some interesting clouds. It just had all the elements that a half decent photographer could have used to get a great photo. From the cycleway on the old bridge could have been even better using the new bridge in the foreground.briantrumpet said:

And the Severn Mud is rather beautifully sculpted too. Pill Creek is fantastic.

Clouds drifting across the moon tonight were quite nice tonight too. One handed shot on the phone whilst walking two dogs didn’t really stand a chance of doing it justice

Not sure if the compression will remove the stars, but the Pixel's ability to photograph night skies is quite impressive.
