More prettiness to distract from the sadness that is today's news/reality.
Nature does oil paintings. Click on the photo to see others.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

As I pointed out in Brian's "sunset" photo it pays to look away from the sun sometimes. Our hotel emptied during dinner so everyone could see this event. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I took a ride back to the 1970s this afternoon. I only went to get a quarter of Blackjacks and some fork handles.
It was shut
If you look carefully, the Tardis is disguised as a community library (with defibrillator)

You remember that thing I said about photographing rain... well...

Did you add milk to the rain like they do for movies?briantrumpet said:You remember that thing I said about photographing rain... well...

Well, they do talk about rain like this "comme vache qui pisse", to keep on the cow theme... and also 'raining strings'.
Still raining heavily now too, so I think it's safe to say any remaining hotspots will have been extinguished tonight. Time for all those heat-treated seeds to come to life, and start the healing process.0 -

In colour, it looked a bit drab. B/W was too nondescript, so it's got a bit of both.

I did it on a chromebook with a simple smartphone app. Basically, it uses a masking that you remove bits to reveal the original underneath. Touchscreen makes it a speedy job.Pross said:
I’ve seen that done before but have absolutely no idea how to do it!masjer said:In colour, it looked a bit drab. B/W was too nondescript, so it's got a bit of both.

Spotted this from the road bridge in the top corner. Technically private, but since the public have only access to 3% of our rivers, I don't feel too guilty about a bit of trespassing.
First bit of autumnal colour.

...and repeat. A couple more from my "escape from reality" drip feed.
(Both taken while actually cycling so fairly happy with the results.)

Bottom one looks like a film backdrop. Captures the scale really well.1

Tourist tat of the day, but I quite like the way that the camera picked up the various layers in front of and behind the tower. Also happy to get 100 miles in the legs, despite a pesky Mistralish wind.

Oh, while we're on mountains (thanks PB, they are just so photogenic), here's a photo I took last night of my favourite bit of the mountain behind my house, called the Rocher des Heures, which lit up for five minutes as if in a golden spotlight. I think that's about 300m of limestone rockface, pretending to be the east end of a cathedral.

Gotta say I like golden light, and receding mountains.
Would love to get a shot of both in one.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Hmm, does that ever happen, golden and receding? Blue and receding is the norm, isn't it?
And 'my' mountain is renowned for its luminous pink sunset hue normally... just something weird happened yesterday.0 -
I think if you were high up looking down on the adjoining mountain getting golden light and the further mountains in the shade.briantrumpet said:pblakeney said:Gotta say I like golden light, and receding mountains.

Good planning, correct WB and I don't see why not, given a touch of luck.
The aesthetics might not work but I'd like to try. Yellow and blue can work together. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I'd quite like to get s hot with individual droplets, but realise that's unlikely without a special set-up and ideal lighting...0
