Counting down - always marked the start of winter training when it used to be published in the comic - planning where i might see it etc - now everyone seems to have a pretty good idea the year before !- I've not looked much at the guesses this year - but official route out next week
If rumours are true though the itt on the penultimate day in Marseille will be a spectacle -!

At first glance, one word: lightweight."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

Saying less climbing but steeper climbs.
Isoard stage for the Etape?0 -

Isoard stage for the Etape?
So, basically: "Lets make it like a weak Giro."?
Not going to please many folks if so."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
La Course to be run on the Isoard stage rather than in Paris. will be the same day as the men tackle it.0
-
Croix der Fer, Telegraphe & Galibier stage ending in Serre Chevalier won't be easy.0

Only 23 categorised climbs?0

And the bike sponsors won't like the small amount of TT.
I read somewhere that it'll probably be skeleton staff only in Marseille, but yes, a very long overnight drive to Paris which won't be popular amongst the mechanics etc.0 -
Etape stage - longer than the last couple but less climbing?0 -
Pretty though.0

What distances are the TTs?0 -
The stage to Chambery, with Grand Colombier and it's 22% ramps, includes the Mont du Chat -8.8km at 10%. This was the first climb i ever did in France. Thought it wouldn't be too hard because i'd never heard of it but was evil.0

Gah - should be more. Thanks.0 -
Views from the top of Mont du Chat....not bad (that's Mont Blanc in the far distance)0 -
The descent of the Mont du Chat into Chambery is tough, very steep with a rough surface and lots of hairpins. If it's hot then the climb is horrible, no shelter from the sun and, because it's quite low, minimal temperature drop as you climb.0

Just watched the 3D route preview and some stages look amazing. 2D profiles never seem to do the route justice0
