    Proof that I woz there

More may follow. I am the slowest photo editor in the world

Yeah, but at least you don't make them all black and white except for one particular rider.

    Nice pics.

Ah I miss the not quite black and white days of Frenchie

Kennaugh needs to stop with the MJ white-socks black-shoes combo.

    Doesn't suit anyone.

    Isn't that right Dish?

I dunno.... I think Kennaugh's black helmet/shoes combo with white socks looks the boss!

One day you'll learn that your speed is nothing if you don't look the part.

You must be the only person in the country who doesn't think Kennaugh looks good on a bike. He oozes style and class.

    Never said that.

Just don't like the Michael Jackson footwear.
  • White socks and black shoes are a classic combo and cannot be improved on.

The older I get, the more Frenchie I get.

There's a lot wrong with black shoes.

If you're an amateur I can understand them when you're in the rain - since you don't have someone to clean your shoes or give you new ones for free ( I do this, to keep the white shoes clean), but otherwise, nu uh. No way.

I thought you Dutchies were protestant to your very core? None of this white shoe bollox.
  • Anquetil was wrong. Merckx was wrong. De Vlaeminck was wrong. Fignon was wrong. Amirite?

    Meh, different eras, different styles.

They didn't wear helmets either, and their jerseys would look ridiculously long today.

Don't you think the other way round is more important - looking the part is nothing if you don't have the speed?

    Pfft, such a n00b comment.

None of us will be pros or win any race worth raising an eyebrow for, so the speed will never be there.

Therefore, you need to look like you have the speed.

Assuming you have the physique of someone who could go fast, looking the part will put the fear of god in anyone. If they ask, you're on a recovery day after a 260km training ride. Y'know, the kind Dish knocks out on an average Sunday.

Problem is, he doesn't look like he knocks that out, so he gets a bunch of pretenders on the wheel.

    Comprende?

I'm quite comfortable with having neither the looks nor the speed, and in that regard I feel like I look the part. Perhaps on your next ride you could give dish_dash some pointers, so that he can up his game.

You're a dream for the bike sales industry - electronic gears, disc brakes etc. are made for you.

True story. On both - Dish gets regular 'constructive feedback'.

Though let's be clear, Electronic gears are for riders who can't index properly and disc brakes are for wusses who can't judge braking distances.

Does he give you constructive feedback on your speed, or lack there of?

Only in that he drops me.

    Mileage=speed in the amateur world.

I'm a tolerant chap... that's why I usually end up with a bunch of pretenders on the wheel providing constructive feedback.

I'm having a good old chuckle at my desk. There's probably an emoticon for that or something.

Honestly, between me and Dish there's Frenchie's ultimate cyclist.

I would have thought that a dish_dash / frenchfighter cross would be the real deal: stylish, fast and enough Frenchness to satisfy the crowds of France that there is hope.

I'm more stylish than Frenchie ffs.

Well, this is the competition, just so you know what you are up against! Grey socks - can't remember where that sits with the style police.

Belgian champs kit is fantastic isn't it. Gilbert is pretty much style perfect in that photo (in my very humble opinion).

Socks stop him getting a perfect score.
