Tour of Lombardy *spoiler*
Surprised no-one else has started this yet.
The most beautiful of all the monuments, over some incredibly challenging climbs around Lake Como.
This year's edition covers 241 kms from Como to Bergamo with the Ghisallo very early on, then a very hard final 100 kms with 5 classified climbs before 15 kms of flat before the short, but steep, ascent to Bergamo Alto, with a 3km descent down into the centre of Bergamo.

A break of four went clear before the Ghisallo, featuring AG2R's Mickael Cherel, BMC's Damiano Caruso, Cofidis' Rudy Molard and IAM Cycling's Stefan Denifil.
The maximum they've had is 7' 30" I think.0 -
A day to forget for OGE's neo-pro Robert Power, he'd signed on but somehow missed the start so the race had gone when he got there. He chased them but to no avail.0
-
It's a very tough route but with the flat run into bergamo it'll be like it was last time - decent 30 man group at the bottom of the bergamo hill0

TV live. 93 very hilly kms to go.
Kirby already called Caruso as de Marchi and waffling about the end (of season) being nigh."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

"Pantani lives, well no unfortunately he doesn't"
Kirby at his infuriating best today. Feels like he's laughing at his own jokes more than is usual.0 -
"im all for pretty ladies, but if the cameramen are bored I'd rather they went to seek out a nice moustache"
O__o0 -
Alaphilippe struggling at the back of a much reduced peloton.
No sign of Poels, thought he'd be right up there.0 -
Gesink has attacked with 58 kms to go, all sorts of damage going on.0
-
Dan Martin has been dropped.0
-
-
Gesink in a group of 6, all the rest are second tier riders. Chaves and Bardet have got across I think, a few other favourites in the gap between the group and what's left of the peloton.0
-
The big hitters are making moves now.
Not much of a peloton left."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

12-15 riders by the looks of things. :shock:0 -
Maybe that's the chasing group. Kirby is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard today, making no attempt to work out who's where on the road.0

I lol'd, I'm afraid :oops:It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
They are on this climb;

Caruso still has a minute or so, followed by Latour, De La Cruz and Molard, with the group containing, I think, Gesink, Chaves, Diego Rosa, Bardet, Valverde and Visconti amongst others 15 seconds or so behind those three.0

Brambilla and De Marchi are in the group.0

Caruso had been caught0

Descending now, next up is the Selvino.

Brambilla pushing hard on the descent, trying to split the group up.0

How many times is Kirby going to say "squeaky" today? dick!0
