I missed it too but just typical Echelons I think. Belgium smashed it

Entirely as I predicted. They got to the top north point of the route, turned the corner and Belgians put the heat on.

Brits had done a lot of work so were near the front but were cooked very soon.

Did the Aussie sit up to allow the gap to open?

  • This location must be suiting all those chronic asthmatics and allergy sufferers in the peloton - doesn't seem much folliage and it's a nice dry air
  • This is good for Cav, he won a stage in the Tour in a similar situation a few years ago.

    GB
    GB
    Corner
    BELGIUM!!!!
    Gap
    Done

Don't think it was an aussie that sat up (german?) but he just sits up, lets that gap go and 10 secs later there's a 50m gap

Millar seems to think this is it for group 2 but 1 min with 120km is do-able.

Having to contend with 5 Belgians and Sagan will be tricky

Think Rochelle Gilmore said on Comms earlier that any back markers caught would be pulled by the commies.

Plus a bunch of other quick guys. Can't see Cav winning unless the group is caught.

Belgium obviously in a strong position here with numbers and two good finishers, Italians with decent numbers and haven't over-worked with Viviani. Cav the fastest out-and-out sprinter so as Millar said Blythe will play a key role for him and is obviously no slouch himself in a sprint. Sagan on his own but nothing new there. Aussies in a similar position to GB albeit less likely to win a sprint. Big losers are the Germans, Dutch and French.

Responsibility is on Belgians to pull and it's a long way to go.
