    reminds me of doing league athletics 'back in the day' - the 4x400m at the end would always have a healthy quota of middle distance guys taking on the baton, as the sprinters were too tired to do a 200, a 4x100 AND a 4x400. That's if wes 'ad a baton of course, not just an ol' stick. And no spikes either - proper nails, 'ammered thru us feet - kids today, don't know thee'yre born, tartan tracks and changing rooms? luxury! all we 'ad we're a rough field and a bus shelter.... (shuffles off grumbling....)
