Remarkable such a stage profile can end up so boring.

I think the profile always meant no one on GC would do anything. Too much distance from the top of the cat 1 to the finish, and too much distance from the HC to the 1st cat.

Yeah although Froome has attached on the descent and on the flats this tour. Would have been nice if one of them did something anyway

It would have been funny if Majka had come round Pantano then.

Jeetje Pantano has big teeth. The other half just asked is Esther Rantzen won the stage.

Team sky turning this into a bore.

They're doing their jobs. It's up to the other riders to attack and make it interesting.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

I did think he'd sat up a bit early and nearly bollocksed it right up.

    Porte overtaking TJVG in GC?

Silly stage as many others have been, big climb then 15km race downhill to finish. What is the point of them?

Yellow jersey group 15 strong which is quite telling.

I'm going to lose my sh!t in a minute.

Literally need to say it every year.

JUST BECAUSE IT'S THE RIGHT TACTIC DOESN'T MEAN IT IS EXCITING.

Said it before the Tour - they're too strong to have a good spectacle.

On the bright side, it gives you plenty to moan about every year.

For the abundance of Zubeldia alone, this stage has been immense.

I think even Mollema was shocked to see him when the GC group caught up!

Ventoux was the only time we've seen Froome challenged man vs man without a teammate hanging about and that effectively got neutralised.

Should have given him a penalty for leaving his bike, just to liven it up. 3 minute handicap would liven it up.

I have quite a high tolerance for watching cycling (apparently, judging by how I seem to be enjoying stages which other people have a good whinge about. There's a lot of very jaded cycling fans). But that stage was not exciting.

Would have been good to watch him do some big attacks for sure.

Although that stage thread would probably have broken the forum if that had happened...

I'm not saying it was either. I just don't see what the point is of going on about it in every spoiler thread. There are always likely to be more boring stages than exciting stages. Most people would rather hang on to a high GC placing than take a risk and blow up. It's exactly the same as seeing football teams playing defensively the further they get in a big tournament because they don't want to risk losing. Maybe some adjustment of expectations is in order.

Porte now 20 seconds clear of his (not so) super-dom. Go Ritchey, the podium awaits!

The 10km flat at the end meant that the sheep behind the much hated Sky train were never going to try much.
Chapeau to Bardet for at least giving it a go and jumping over TJVG in the process.
    Porte also benefits.

A very good race to be watched aside the GC lot.
Which, to be fair to French tv, got the lion's share of the coverage.

Eurosport interviewing Aru on the warm down.

He really looks like Sacha Baron Cohen... Ironic that he's on Astana...

Smaller crowds admittedly, but spectators seemed better behaved, more respectful of the riders.

Reducing the team size would be better.
