Frankly it's amazing they both stayed up...

Bouhanni Interview - "hard racing, tricky finish, today went better than yesterday, been a good 2 days for french sprinters" - well that was a disappointing interview

Well he started the sprint in the middle of the road and ended it by the barriers.... what is Sean Kelly on about?

Twitter seems to know Bohanni has been DQ'd

    ...now confirmed.

Not sure they really had an option tbh, Matthews would have won if he hadnt been blocked - 10s bonus to him

Bouhanni disqualified, Matthews wins stage 2

Australia's Michael Matthews (Orica Greenedge) won the 213.5-km second stage of Paris-Nice after Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) was disqualified by the race commissaires.

    Bouhanni relegated is the term

    true, fair point

Bohanni put in 3rd not last (sean slightly irked about that)

there was a EQS rider down before the finale I dont know who it was but then there was no sign of them again
  • I think Bouhanni is sporting and wouldnt intentionally put Mathews in the barriers

Watching replay he looks under his right arm momentarily thinking the danger is coming up his right and in doing so drifts to the left where he is genuinely surprised to clip Mathews

From Cyclingnews. I didnt see it.
The overhead shot shows Nacer Bouhanni didn't deviate from his line in his sprint, but he did poke out an elbow and lean on Matthews, and they almost both came a cropper against the barriers.

Either Bouhanni deviated or the barrier closed in on them as the gap between Bouhanni and the left barrier decreased over the last 500m hence Matthews got a nudge. Truly nowhere for him to go.

Lucky it was advertising hoarding as opposed to the normal metal fences with sticking out feet or it could have been pretty brutal.

  • Bouhanni not able to take a beating fair and square. Strange that he only got bumped down to third. Should have been last on the stage. Bouhanni is a second-rate sprinter, still.

Looked quite a slow sprint. Bouhanni was dropped off at 200m and it just went on for eternity.

More importantly, Matthews is absolutely motoring. Proper motoring. Got to be a great shout for MSR.

I get the feeling Kristoff's holding back ala Degekolb....

So to clarify, since there's a lot of confusion on this thread - Bouhanni has been demoted to 3rd on the stage?

    Seems fair.

    Yep and yep

It's a difficult problem for the internet though as Bouhanni and Matthews are both equally unlikable. Choosing a side is like choosing whether to be punched in the nose or the eye...

I'm hoping that Kristoff is sandbagging. But what's up with Kittel?
