It was the fact it's clearly been run through google translate that irked me more than De Vlaeminck's "4 Yorkshiremen" act."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Belgian news tells me the Federation will be waving around their new motor detector at the start on Saturday."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Now this is interesting. Does the Belgian Cycling Fed have any legal jurisdiction over the non-Belgian teams / non-Belgian racing licence holders?0 -

It's a UCI race in Belgium, they are implementing the UCI rules I'd guess, as a UCI affiliated Fed?
No different to National ADAs testing athletes from other countries, when they are in their (the ADAs) country at a race.0 -

Hmm, not sure. Well lets hope it doesnt end up being a legal matter anyway. I can see the Belgian Cycling Fed being VERY enthusiastic, given the fact it was a Belgian cyclist riding for the national squad who had been caught.0 -
Erm.... Have I missed the bit where there was an explanation as to why Stannard isn't riding (either this, or K-B-K)?0

He's realised winning Omloop means he won't win Flanders since no one ever wins both.
So by not doing it, he can't win it.0 -
Good job Vanmarcke beat Boonen by a couple of inches in 2012 wasn't it0

Never been done, fact fans"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Regarding this Bike Channel business.
In case anyone thinks it is restricted to Sky or the Virgin media platforms, it isn't.
Bike Channel is available to anyone who uses a dish pointed at Astra (freesat) for their UKTV.
Just scan frequency 11307H at 27500 and it should appear on your screen."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

They might be very enthusiatic, but I've heard the test is very easily defeated by not stuffing a motor into your bottom bracket...0 -

"resting up for the Monuments" is what you do the week before...ze Monuments!? The other explanation that I'm hoping for is that Stannard is worried that the 500-odd kms he'd do at Omloop and K-B-K weekend wouldn't be long or hard enough...0 -

More prosaically, he's starting his campaign later a la Fabs, to try to be able to carry tip topness (invented phrase) through to P-R, instead of being shagged out by that point - which has been his more usual state in previous seasons0 -

Let's hope that "campaign" for Stannard this year is more Genghis Khan than Donald Trump.
Not having Wiggins or G at P-R will mean a straight-up toss-up between him and Rowe for leadership, no?
How ironic it would be if Sky were to finally get its monument victory in the absence of Those Most Likely....0 -

Lampaert has a broken sternum, out for 4 weeks, so he won't be starting.0

Now have this showing on BIKE on my Sky EPG, for those wanting to record/remind.0

Oh come on, don't reach for the anti-depressants, you have Lombardy and the WC's later on. 5 months to go out riding and ditch the TV.
What's with back to back Omloop and K-B-K. Is it because of the packed lower category tours of Lapland and Anyotherland?
Would anyone ride both looking to actually win one of them?
Has anyone won both, never mind Omloop and Flanders?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
9/1 for Viviani in KBK? Seems quite decent odds to me.0

yep, needs his team to get him up the hills, but a very good bet. seems this year to be one of the top 5 non fish and chip sprinters. the others being Greipel, Kittel, Cav, and Kristoff.
The Vivster's not too bad on short climbs. Unlike a certain fighty French sprinter, he doesnt need his team to push him up hills...he was 3rd last year, don't forget....0
