Guys - quick step don't have the legs. No one was surprised by the move. The 3 you see at the front were stronger than the rest.

No top tier riders. Only 2nd/3rd

Etixx's strength in depth is their biggest weakness, no?

 it's not strength in depth. It's having 5 tier 2 riders and no tier 1. Tier 1 riders win races.

Boonen doesn't look like he's going to retire in a blaze of glory (like Canc).

It seems like a long time but I think Kwia was saying after E3 he didn't win in the WC jersey until April... I guess it's just because he's had so many chances that it seems longer!

How does he loose so many when he can do that? Super strong.

    Suck Vanmarke?
He did quit working very early.

Etix even manage to lose the sprint for 5th.

Sagan does seem to be blunted after the Kwaremont, every time.

OK, too many chiefs and not enough Indians then. Are Stybar / Terpstra really that far behind Sagan / Cancellara etc or is there possibly an element of none of them being prepared to bury themselves and give up their own chances of winning to assist a team mate when they think they're better than and / or more deserving of being put in a winning position than said team mate? As you say, five riders at more or less the same level, where's the hierarchy / pecking order?

They worked so hard together the 4 of them. Obviously in their combined experience they knew that easing up too early would be possibly catastrophic or that one of them would jump - especially Kuznetzov(?) or SVM. It's a pity someone had to loose.

    Yeah.

    Massively.

Look at the Kemmelberg - the tough side, the 2nd side. Look at that acceleration by Sagan. It's really something. Cancellara creaks but follows, and then you have 3 riders behind - Sep, Greg and Stybar. Only Sep has anything left afterwards to make the bridge Cancallera/Sagan on the descent.

So, in this race, you have

    Sagan-Canc

    Sep

    Stybar-Greg.

Boonen was having a p!ss whilst being pushed by Maes just as the crosswind kicked off at 110km to go.

Cancellara is having a good twilight year so far but Boonen is a spent force.

What's his (Boonens) chances of winning a classic before the end of his career?
