Why do people insist on capitalising Sky like it's some sort of acronym?

I will predict that I will let in one hockey goal tomorrow (plus or minus one goal). If I am right you should praise me like Ross Tucker thinks you did him and all other comment I make on that sport or others that I haven't watched should be considered fact.
That's how it works right?Twitter: @RichN950 -

Overnight, the Clinic have finally uncovered the source of the fix.
The lab forgot to weigh Froome in 2007 (easily done, it was only a test after all) and Michelle just filled in the blank with the figure that worked.

Think thats how they had their name when the team first launched, then changed it to upper case S, lower case k and y, a few years ago

Someone on Twitter gleefully posted a 'smoking gun' to Richard Moore, that in his athlete profile for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth games Froome's weight was listed as 68kg. His bubble was burst slightly when it was pointed out that this was unlikely to be accurate since his height was listed as 5' 8"!0 -
It's very amusing watching a series of really rather eminent & highly qualified sports scientists dealing with loony tweets on this subject. They start off politely engaging and answering questions, then you can see the realisation hitting them re the challenging mentality on the other end0

Oh and MORNING Richard *waves*
Good bit o writing btw. Nice skewering of Vayer0 -

Are power meters on bikes adjustable to zero the thing before riding? A bit like a bathroom scales? You can adjust them up or down as you like?
I don't think Froomey will do a test which makes him look suss so I would think he'll be prepped to give out the result which gives the best PR. Think we forget that pro cyclists are almost better at telling porkies than riding at 54kph. None of us know the tricks going on here so are peeing in the wind at guessing. My guess is they are messing about. Nice to see riders having bad days which might mean the testing might be limiting the doping a bit.
They've doped for the last 125 years so why stop now.“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”- Albert Einstein

Had my heart broken too many times. Feckin ex dopers on teams is amazing though so that should tell me something. Didn't know Eric Dekker was in with Lotto and he's been naughty I think. Neil Stephens broke my heart when I think he said something about swearing not to dope cos he's got his Kids and Family etc and then got caught. So many times.

Yes - the power measuring rig could be set to consistently measure wrong right from the start. I imagine the oxygen mask used for measuring Co2 levels (or whatever it measures) could also be recalibrate.
Besides the tests being done in an 'independent' lab, the entire process could have been bought off by Sky. I mean, we've seen stuff like this before haven't we? Russians seem to have bought off accredited independent anti-doping labs so anything is possible.
Just depends how deep your cynicism and paranoia are. And how long you've been a regular poster in the Clinic.0 -

I agree. The past has done a lot of damage. However, why tar everyone with the same brush? There's a lot more still to be done but it's as transparent as it's ever been and at least people are getting caught and banned now. Short of conclusive proof of doping I'm prepared to give the peleton the benefit of the doubt. Why still follow a sport that leaves you feeling so hurt and bitter?0 -

Wasn't a Sky thing though - It was a Froome thing.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

One and the same. You think there was no one from Sky there? The point still remains - in the most cynical world, the whole thing *could* have been manipulated. They made it look like a man landed on the moon, why not this?0 -
Who is to say that his numbers are exceptional?
Statistically, one is a very small sample number. Having another dozen or so cyclists tested in a similar fashion would give a better perspective on the situation.Half man, Half bike0 -
So the upshot is:
1. Froome's physiological maths stack up as being consistent from turning pro
2. A man (Vayer) lacks any real credibility and even if the risen Christ told him Froome was clean he wouldn't accept it
3.the transformation from nearly out the door to GT winner remains a stumbling block for some
I think ultimately without any witnesses as to any wrong doing Froome should be left alone and be cut some slack on this matter now.0 -

I'm sure Richard Moore would be able to answer the question of whether anyone from Sky was there.
Yes, it could have all been a sham but then you would also be questioning the integrity of Jeroen Swart and Richard Moore (and the GSK lab), who would have nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing that0 -
Fred Grappe says it's not enough and he wants longitudinal testing of various paremeters. Something like a biological passport. What's that? Oh."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I hope the upshot is that Froome continues to release data (because it's interesting), but that he and his team spend not one more iota of time hoping to convince the unconvinceables. When Michelle Froome is accused of forging documents, when Swart is accused of bias (by virtue of being from the tiny continent of Africa), and when Richard Moore is accused of being English, there's really no point in engaging with them.0

Absolutely. What many don't realise is that residents of the Clinic and the like get far more enjoyment from their suspicions and conspiracy theories than they get from any bike race. A world with totally clean cycling is a nightmare they never want to have to face.0 -
Sky didn't know the results and reading between the lines, I don't think they had anyone there. I would be very surprised if GSK could be bought off given the potential of losing billions off the share price if found out.0
-
Seb Coe's had a couple of days off anyway.
But some of the Clinic comments leave me open mouthed. Froome could have a doping monitor device inserted in his bloodstream and he'd still be the devil.0 -

It's funny, it was relatively calm in the clinic and on twitter for the first few hours (because 99% of us have little idea what the numbers might suggest. "does it mean he's clean?? please god no"), and then little by little they were reassured that it's still safe to throw out their lunatic ideas, and then it all went a little bit mental.0
