I think it was 20 years. They used it in the 90s, if I recall correctly.
Rick: I think there's only one non cobbled route down and since Jeremy Roy (i think) face planted it they've been reluctant to use it.
I think it was Jimmy Casper, not Roy.
It wasn't just Casper, a lot of riders crashed that day. I think 7 ended up in hospital.

100th Ronde this coming year. The parcours was presented today, pretty much the same as last year, only swapping one flat cobbled section (Holleweg) for another (De Jagerij)

Alejandro Valverde (35) in 2016 will for the first time participate in the Giro (6 to May 29), but the Spaniard is also expected for the first time at the start of Tour of Flanders (April 3).Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -

Really? You expect to talk about cycling in November? Surely there's a whole two months or so of doping chat and Lance chat and other assorted **** gossip to be fought over first.
Most classics contenders have started their training in earnest already.

Holleweg is horrid. big stones and badly maintained. Although the riders should be grateful as until the Wolvenberg was resurfaced they used to use it to get from the top of the Eikenberg to the crossroads onto the top of the Wolvenberg. So 1.5km of really rough cobbles followed by Ruiterstraat (800m), then Kergate (2km) then Jagerij (1km) all in the space of about 7km. Then onto the Molenberg."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

It's an odd one that, because the road that Omloop uses to get there isn't closed. You can drop down from Horebeke and turn left and still get onto it, I did that on Saturday. The traditional Ronde approach from the end of Jagerij would take you through the hole in the ground that has currently replaced the road, but the same was true this year and they took the route described above."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

The finish of omloop has been moved this year as well as overpoort straat, the hell hole of student bars, which makes up the last 500m usually will be closed thanks to the city of Gent's policy of digging up every single road they are responsible for.
They considered finishing on the Graslei or outside the castle but this was also impossible thanks to the roadworks and tram tracks so instead it will finish where the Tour stage finished in 2007, on the main road by the Kuipke"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I was very drunk at the time, but I'd ve called it a hill not a drag yes....
Maybe one for Vuillermoz then.0 -
not that much of a hill...
It's the other side to the way we shambled up. It's not much of a hill but it does kick up a little towards the end it's only 200m long in any event"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

No Tour of Qatar for Etixx-Quick Step next season.
How are we going to know how Boonen will do in the classics now?0 -

INRNG speculating that the big drop in the number of WT teams lining up for the 2016 race - a race organised by ASO - may be a two fingered salute by various members of Velon eg EQS, Trek, Sky, Tinki, to that august organisation who've been a bit dickish over the planned reforms0 -

I don't think I've ever received a satisfactory answer to this question"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

E3 to be a little shorter and a little less difficult (i.e. fewer hellingen), but with a bit of adaptation to keep the suspense for longer (at least ,that's how it's being sold).0 -

Meanwhile, training camps, Dutch style. (always classy...)
