I’m Catholic but believe in a woman’s right to make her own decision. I don’t think I would be unique in this.Dorset_Boy said:

Is abortion forbidden in the Republic? I have no idea and just curious. I suspect it's probably banned.tailwindhome said:You all do know that while abortion has technically been decriminalised in NI the Unionist Health Minister has still not commissioned any abortion services.
Woman in NI still must travel to England for an abortion in the year 2022.
Have the Blairs passed comment as good catholics?
I personally think it's an appalling decision, and the possible next steps are very worrying .
Interesting how the religous far right meets the Catholic left on this.
Bear in mind Biden is Catholic and is fighting for a woman’s right to decide as well. I can’t comment on the Blair’s.

If we're picking on random catholics, then why not our very own PM.0

I suspect he's only Catholic because the sin/confess/forgiveness thing comes in so useful.Jezyboy said:If we're picking on random catholics, then why not our very own PM.

I was raised Catholic too, and am aware that Biden is a Catholic too.skyblueamateur said:

PB is also correct i think that the American religious right are WASPs.
NI Catholics and many UK cCatholics are typically left of centre in the political spectrum.
I guess I'm trying to highlight that extreme views are not limited to those on the right, even though a number on here wish that was't the case.

I'm surprised the far right haven't picked up on the fact that sperm are, by some definitions, alive, and banned masturbation.Dorset_Boy said:

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -

Absolutely. Can’t argue with that at all. I actually stopped going to mass when asked to sign a petition against gay marriage.Dorset_Boy said:

That’s absolutely of no concern to me and I fundamentally disagree with the church on that and issues around abortion.
You’re correct that most of the people I went to school with would be left of centre but also socially liberal. Massive oxymoron I suppose.

Nope, I love them and especially Elizabeth Banks but that conversation just felt like the sort of thing they have all the time down to the cringy sexist comments.MattFalle said:

Difference being one is comedy writing taking the Mick out of those attitudes and the other is, presumably, a genuine comment from someone trying to get elected.0 -
I feel for the poor guy in the middle trying to keep the debate even loosely tethered to reality.MattFalle said:

The FBI called but he was out.
Next time I hope he will be in when they arrive but out after they leave.0 -
Aparently the FBI had to pre-warn the ex-president's security detail. Also, the documents they were searching for are so secret they can't be named on the warrant.0
