It is migratory, so you can be sure it'll be back.

If you still aren't convinced that Maggie Haberman of the NYT is working for Trump (like her mother does, officially), this might convince you.

Yes this is why Europe needs to tool up as America are not reliable from election cycle to election cycle.

Waiting to see what happens here:

"Ultra Electronics underlined its status as a leading British defence group as it posted bumper figures.

The company, whose controversial sale to US private equity awaits Government approval, said its order book was a record £1.3billion at the end of 2021."

Once we're past 2024, I might be able to laugh at stuff like this.

I don’t think he ever stopped.

Just to be clear, there is a decent chance he can win an election after trying to stage a coup after his previous election loss.

    Fall of Rome stuff.

I’m not the first person to make the connection but it does feel like we’re in our own “third century crisis”

I predicted a repeat of last century, if you remember. Pandemic-Boom-Crash-Rise of the right-War. We appear to have missed the boom part and are ahead of schedule.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

You do have to question the yanks if he makes it through to run for president again after last time. Unless you count chaos and dishonesty as what you are aiming for then what's the upside of trump 2.

He's on their side. He's one of them you see, because when he was born he was only a millionaire.

Ignoring the minor issues like the attempted coup and being a complete loon, I don't understand why you would want a president going into a 4 year term who is already 78 years old.
If Trump gets in next time the US will have had two in a row that old

they don't care - he represents everything the lunatics are into - he could be 740 and they'll still vote for him.

Some of his base will, inexplicably, be women.

And some of his base might be men who own one or more women. And some of those women might be pregnant and might want not to be (or at least their republican owners might not want that).

Wonder how that's going to play out....

    same script as other populists...

    - tell people they're being oppressed by 'elites' - even though you're one of the elite and corrupt as hell

    - immigrants, foreigners, liberals, lgbtq, wrong religion/colour/language, they're all trying to take your jobs/money/country, blame them too - they're already at a disadvantage, they can't fight back

    - make a lot of promises - you have no intention of keeping them, doesn't matter

    - claim the free press are liars biased against you, never admit your lies no matter what - you'll be cheered on by the biased media who profit from you

    - same for the independent judiciary, attack and subvert it - because you don't care about the rule of law

    - be as divisive as you can - polarisation plays into your hands, your threat is the centre, not the 'other side'

    - when you fail to do what you promised, lie and blame others more - use your failure to stoke more anger against 'them', it justifies an even more extreme position

the ones who voted for him expecting mines to reopen, mass return of off-shored jobs and protectionism to keep out cheap/better foreign stuff, got little or nothing, but they'll vote for him again, after all, it wasn't his fault, and the false hope of his lies is better than accepting that they were conned

the christian right who care only about subjugating others to their worldview are having a party, together with the gun nuts, qanon nuts, election result deniers, they'll all vote for him again

hatred is a great motivator for getting out the vote, stoke it

electoral systems that allow a minority of the popular vote to result in a victory are vulnerable to exploitation by populists, social media and sophisticated analytics have made it much easier, sadly both the usa and uk have such systems

all this that has been excellently written, are all valid points and is correct together with the fact that there's a lot of frikkin'idiots out there.
