Mind you if the outgoing Director of the CIA last comments on Trump are reflected in serving CIA officers you have to ask yourself how long it will be before the coin drops and The Donald will be seen as a more imminent and potent threat to American values than America's traditional bogeymen.

There are institutions and mechanisms that will keep him in check. It's not as if he can act without accountability.
There's a mechanism for impeachment, there's the senate, there's military officials that may be not be conducive, there's the press that won't shut up (I bet the Washington Post is loving this and will look for something on the Watergate scale) and of course there's the proof in the pudding - when the dust from the impending trade wars settle, the Dollar looses huge value and the orders for American products dry up, there will be no disguising anything.
Perhaps (if we are lucky) he'll go by the way of Mussolini and it may happen sooner than you think. I think it should be inconceivable, for good reason, that a man can become POTUS without holding any office in whatever capacity.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Meeting up with a big group of like minded souls is not a bad way to spend an afternoon, whether it's a shared distaste for Trump or, say, a shared interest in vintage agricultural machinery. I watched some of the press briefing on CNN last night. He's quite shameless.
He said that when he said "this was the most watched inauguration, both in person and around the world", and focussed on how the press had cropped photos of the crowd to make it look smaller - he can't think of any other interpretation than that he meant that if you add up the people there, the TV and the online viewing figures, it comes to more than any previous inauguration.
He was asked how he could square the "fact" that the press made up the spat with the CIA with the tweet from Trump, and he said that the comparison with Nazi Germany was more about “the process not the people".0 -
