Loads of Ale on Sportpursuit today.

Any of the Fuller's or the strong Belgium stuff on then?

    :)

I can't find the key that does that slanty thing.

Anyhow, back to Rapha, The fabric is exactly the same as that used in the old Pro Team Jacket.

Sigh, despite being of a different fabric ratio and construction.

As an aside, I also ordered this little beauty for my gf:

You only bought it because it's yellow and you thought her baps might look that good in it.

It may be better it may be worse, but it certainly isn't the same!

Maybe the old fabric is actually bright blue like the picture!

I'm being strangely drawn to this. No idea why.

  • Yeah, head says, whoah. But something, something about it.

Indeed it supports my recent thinking that outdoor type gear construction may be what we actually need, not this bike stuff.

Hmm... almost identical in looks to the Espresso 4 that;s in the post and on the way to me :D :

Ukbyk sent me an email saying they couldn't fulfil my order for the Santini BeHot bibs. They did send me an email when I asked for a refund pretty quickly, so a heads up for their customer service. Now I will wait until the DHB deep winter one's are back in stock. Unless someone knows something that I don;t know and can find a Medium size for me.

Have you or anyone got any experience of Le Col cycle clothing? It's a brand that seems to be getting a lot of good reviews.

  • I don't. I've emailed, of course, but no response.

In the early days they aped Assos quite a lot, the early le Col looked like an Airjack. I may have a look in.

  • Interestingly the £250 jacket is windtex. Wonder how it compares to the £120 Lusso? (There are some stonking reflectives on it, but so is the Lusso)

They had bib shorts, but don't know exactly which ones out of the Le Col range they had. This was about three weeks ago.

No, I didn't need anything. It's a few doors up from the barber shop that I go to when I need a haircut. Six quid for a buzz cut. Bargain.

I will, however, consider one of their short sleeved jerseys for the summer, should I need another one.

The Alpha jersey arrived today so I've now got that and the Rapha Pro Team Training jacket for a direct comparison.

Both are spot on size for me in large. Got both for around 100 notes give or take a couple of quid.

The Alpha Windstopper fabric is lovely and soft, much less crinkly feeling than the alleged Polartec of the Rapha. The collar, cuffs and waistband of the Alpha are absolute works of art. As Bender said, I think the Alpha is likely to be the more comfortable of the two.

The predominantly black colour of the back of the Alpha is not ideal however, particularly in view of the lack of reflectives on the jacket.

The Rapha is possibly the slightly better looking of the two jackets, at least on me it is. The blue colour is nothing like the website pictures but still looks pretty classy. The reflective panels on the sleeve and back are also quite impressive.

Pockets on both are virtually identical, maybe positioned a bit high on the Rapha but more spacious than the Alpha.

Decisions, decisions. I'm going to end up keeping both at this rate!

£4.50 for a buzz cut in sunny Stranraer. However, I bought a Braun 'Head' and so it's a DIY job on the remaining 3 strands.

Wiggle have blue, plus there's cashback and the £10 off thing if it's still working.

Luckily I would want Mirage which they don't have for some reason.

Few of us have been trying to get Rapha to admit/deny whether the new PT training is Polartec. They continue to state it's a version of it but don't say why they're not claiming it is (despite being a different proportion). Have hassled them with a more specific question

Is it just me or have your question and the answer now disappeared from the website??

Yes, they were there. But I also had this email.

We appreciate you taking the time to contact us searching for more information to help inform your purchase. On this occasion, we are unable to publish this question on our website but would like to take this opportunity to answer your feedback via email.

Not really helpful, is it! They went on to say:

As stated in the answers, this is a version of Polartec Power Shield Pro, very similar to that used in the Pro Team Softshell Jacket. This version is slightly less water-resistant. The fabric is exactly the same as that used in the old Pro Team Jacket

We know that last statement is demonstrably wrong.
