Didn't froome basically say he wanted the blue a couple of months ago when they were doing kit fittings? I prefer the blue but love that the black gives social media another thing to whinge about - too much black in the peloton

my team was going to have black kit this season and BC didn't accept our kit design saying there was already too many black kits in the UK peloton. As for Endura I know of a company who got some custom kit made up by them and they said it took ages. But I also know someone who got a custom skin suit made by them for chrono des nations and they turned that around real quick0 -

I always found the quality of the coffee to be exactly what you'd expect in a satellite TV showroom. Perhaps the no-nonsense Brailsford media persona clashed with their more aspirational corporate style....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

Maybe Duck Egg Blue instead?0 -
Cuore? They kit out IAM... Might be too small but their craftsmanship is superb.0

So who will Rapha be working with next year? Seems there are more than a few teams who would benefit style wise from a Rapha deal! In fact trying hard to think of one that wouldn't.0

Still with Sky in 2016
And according to Rouleur, they're going to carry on sponsoring Team Wiggins, whatever
From what I've heard, I'm not sure Mottram's intent is to replace Sky with another big team. Seems to want to focus on building out the Rapha cafe concept to more places worldwide, and to growing Rapha's brand and presence in the US0 -
The poll asks the question the wrong way round. "Which manufacturer would benefit most from sponsoring Team Sky?" is the real marketing test.
Given the saturation of Castelli in the UK retail scene, I doubt they need the extra exposure.
Amen, someone who understands the reality of the ridiculousness of the original poll.Trail fun - Transition Bandit
Road - Wilier Izoard Centaur/Cube Agree C62 Disc
Allround - Cotic Solaris0 -
i wouldn't be too surpised if it ends up castelli. this is fro 2017 remember, so their deals with the other two teams may have expired by then. cavendish may also be taking a kit sponsor with him to dimension data.
more importantly, if they do end up with a pro cycling brand, who's going to make the other bits? i predict castelli providing the on bike wear and hugo boss the casual wear."Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -

Rapha dos a survey in the summer asking which other teams we the punters would like to see them partner with. I'd be surprised if they didn't.0 -
Linked to the recent report that profit was down for Rapha? (though increased turnover) ... I guess the Sky deal must cost a fortune. Maybe they think the profile raise has been acheived and they can now ride it forward.Pre tax profits fell 16.5% to £507,888 even after 37% turnover increase to £39m.
Small margins innit!0 -
i have a friend that works for product design team for Adidas, he was recently (about 3 months ago) moved from football (having worked on Messi's boots) to cycling. They've been working on 3d printing shoes (with the aim of them being used for all sports). We recently talked about them trying to compete again at the top level of pro cycling, but he is unsure if they plan to sponsor a team or just individual athletes with bespoke products hence 3d printed shoes.
I've re-read our email chain, it's the soles and insoles they are looking to 3d print just now, but he thinks the technology is there to make the whole shoe.0 -

maybe not world tour level, but there are always plenty of pro conti/conti teams, maybe they could go back to JLT Condor again, and do we expect Team Wiggo to still be around in 2017 ?0 -
I love that we've got 6 pages out of a team changing clothing sponsor in a years time."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Pitched battles? Frame pump duels over which premium brand they'll be using to advertise Sky in 18 months time?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Oddly, if you asked people to pick Sky's clothing supplier several years ago, I doubt anyone would have mentioned Rapha. So it's not inconceivable that they end up with another boutique brand. Although I suspect with the emphasis on performance they will go with someone that can meet their high demands.0

Wiggins has certainly said in interview that he hopes the team will continue, and there's talk of how it can grow and develop that goes beyond 2016. He may not be riding in 2017 (tho god knows, with him you never know), but that doesnt seem to be a gating factor, as long as he and his name are still attached I guess.0 -

Not uncommon to have 30-40 riders at any set of lights, of which half will be roadies. The majority of those will be in Rapha. It's a bit of a fashion show.
Rapha is easily top 3 if not #1 most commonly seen kit brand in the Surrey hills on a weekend and you can't move for roadies. I see more roadies on a Sunday on Box Hill than I ever have in Holland combined.
Also not uncommon to see a rider or two with £10k of cumulative kit on their way to work.0 -
I'm sure it's just me but I'm still not sure why this makes people rabid with interest as to who Sky's clothing supplier will be the season after next.
Is it just that their Rapha gear will lose status?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Id have thought the Sky deal has reduced brand status amongst those that may give time to such a notion. Replica kits being sold cheaply in Evans Cycles isnt in keeping with the general Rapha concept.2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0 -

Appears to have had no adverse effect whatsoever. On the contrary, concepts like Rapha's (ludicrous) £200 a year club membership have gone down a storm, it seems.0 -
So is it going to be ok to wear pro team kit after Rapha stop sponsoring SKY?
I am confused and thinking of going to the General Road forum and opening a thread of if its acceptable or not.

Epic Banter - they were a great band. Shame they lost it after their second album...0 -

Rapha was once for the rouleur type - bit fashion conscious, male, enjoyed the retro cycling styling. Not quite hipster (demographic too old for that) but certainty identified a bit with counter culture cool. Hence the love for Wiggins and his mod stuff. References a counter culture more familiar with middle aged men.
Sky pro cycling is many things, but counter cultural it ain't.
That really rubbed with some of the harder-core Rapha folk. Sky ain't cool but Rapha was.
That's why there is interest.0 -

Well the hardcore will still want to differentiate themselves to the uncool masses. Doubly so if the majority are only in it because of Sky.
How better to do that then have an 'exclusive' club?
Cycling is 100% the new golf and there's a reason exclusive clubs etc exist. Cycling clients bloody love it. After all, Golf isn't appealing to tech money. Cycling is.
In that (London) context, £200 is pocket change.0
