Pre tax profits fell 16.5% to £507,888 even after 37% turnover increase to £39m.
Small margins innit!
Sounds like plenty of capex going on... shops and staff all over the US of A...
Odd really.
They were, and have always been, an internet shop.
Wonder what the rationale is behind all the physical shops?0 -
I wonder if Nike will do it?
I hope someone like Nike does do it, maybe then we'll get proper sizing for everyday riders instead of that XXL size that just about fits around my left b*llock from Rapha.
Rapha is overhyped and overpriced in my opinion.
Lose some weight then, rather than relying on 'American sizing'. The overpriced and overhyped arguments is pathetically dull now.0 -
I suspect, that the deal was part funded by Nike anyway.... they wear Nike trainers on the podium. Nike will have done it just so adidas lose the contract. I believe its been done in other sports before.0

My main gripe with Rapha is that it's too big.
The pro stuff fits well but even the xs is a shade too long and I'm 171
That's iinteresting cos I'd say the same and am the same height - but at the far other end of the size scale...just a shade too longWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

My Rapha pro team shorts (cross version) were great, I was even prepared to live with the stupid "masters of fury" guff on the washing label. Then they fell apart after 4 months. Then the refund they gave me wouldn't even cover a new pair of shorts because I bought them in the sale.
Never again, I say!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I find it fascinating that Sky charge for brand association. But then again the amount of exposure in their target marketplaces has probably grown exponentially. they've managed it quite well, with their Rapha condor - sky and cross associations.0

Not so good!
Generally I have had good experiences with their kit. Though I have never bought full price. The pro range is very good (if you can get it at 30% or more off anyway).
It does pay to see where their stuff is physically made however, since there are some other, less well known brands, which are similarly built....0 -
I looked on it as my punishment from deviating from the one true path of Etxeondo. Their expensive jacket has lasted, so far 6 winters and I just retired the first ever pair of shorts I bought from them after 6 full years of summer and winter (on the turbo) use."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Wow - their stuff really that good?
I have a pair of endura 3/4 bibs that I use a lot a lot and they're heading into their 9th year. Still work perfectly.0 -
hmmm... my castelli nanoflex bib tights are in the process of disintegrating after a season, so its not just Rapha...0

Their bottom of the range jersey isn't great but everything else is fantastic. Especially the 3 in 1 wooly hat."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

What's pathetically dull are people like you who want cycling to become mainstream as long as all riders are 5ft 8 and weight 9 stone, let me guess, you play golf as well and everyone should wear Pringle... . The irony of your post is that someone like you, wouldn't say to me face to face 'lose some weight' because you would know within 3 seconds of meeting me that your face would end up being part of the rear derailleur. Thats a fact. Digest that wimp.
Its not about weight, its about size, you have totally missed the point and interpreted my post through ignorance. The point i made was that their sizing isn't mainstream. They have the audacity to put XXL on a shirt that by every day standards wouldn't fit the majority of riders because the actual size is more like a Medium. I have friends who are 14 stone, broad chested and still don't fit in Raphas clothes and they happen to be Royal Marines. But please, go ahead and tell them to lose weight.
No seriously...please..i really want to see your puny little Rapha clad body peddle away like a hamster on a wheel

I have to say, I havent found a brand that I am not an S in. They all seem pretty consistent to me. Assos, Rapha, Etxeondo, Castelli.Scott Addict 2011

I generally buy medium clothes in sweaters, t shirts. I'm a 30/32 waist for jeans and trousers depending on manufacturer and cut. I suppose what I am saying is that I'm a medium.
I wear medium Rapha. I wear medium other cycling brands.
I suppose what I'm also saying is that your anecdote doesn't ring true. Not with me anyway.

Is it like Bates Motel? :shock:0 -
I'm XL in some Italian cycling gear. I'm S in some American fashion brands (Gap, Calvin Klein etc). In truth I'd say I'm M/L. Sizing is all over the place and if Rapha follow the Italian model then its fair to say their stuff probably does size up small, in which case is it that hard to buy the next size up?0
-
I'm 6'5" and around 93kg most of my kit is Giordana in which I'm a XXL but I've recently acquired a Bianchi whose kit I think is made by Nalini. I went for XXXL which is about right so I expect to have to get a XXXL shirt to match.
I'm curious about Etxeondo mentioned above and would consider Castelli (it seems to be the rave kit at the moment) but I suspect it comes on the small side.
anybody got any Shimano cyclewear? My shoes are Shimano but I tend to overlook them for clothing0 -

I think that's what the kids are saying these days.0 -
Castelli's main problem is there's nowhere for the junk to go.
Rapha isn't for short people (speaking as a short person)0 -
