Hmmmm
EDIT: seems that its Rapha's choice0 -
Linked to the recent report that profit was down for Rapha? (though increased turnover) ... I guess the Sky deal must cost a fortune. Maybe they think the profile raise has been acheived and they can now ride it forward.2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0

Interesting, I'd imagine that it's given the brand the shove they wanted it to.
Wonder who sky will pitch up with next, one of the Italian brands maybe?0 -

Seems that the cost is one reason - the Sky deal is very expensive0 -
Down to money I'm sure, I'd love to know how much Rapha paid for the privilege of dressing Sky.0

They has Assos pitch to them when they were choosing the replacement for Adidas. Though Assos prices make Rapha's look bargain basement levels.0 -
This is why pro kit is rarely provided by the premium end of the market. You're essentially ponying over a limitless supply of top end (whoever makes it) gear every year. Look at all the Orica stuff Blyth was punting on Facebook in September...
Etxeondo stepped out of it completely for a few years and now only do one team, Assos only do the Swiss national team, as far as I know, even Bioracer struggle to meet demand."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Their margins have shrunk rather judging by their latest numbers.
Imagine it's done its job. Everyone knows about Rapha and they hit peak cycling interest.0 -
It's ok... they've still got Team WIGGINS on their books so that should keep them ticking over...
PS. Do Rapha put their numbers out anywhere other than Companies House?0 -

Really?? Not sure that's true...
I suspect that Rapha have got all they need out of Sky now really. In many ways it was about getting them some modern racing credibility to go with the Instagram photos and the "inspiraquotes" that no one ever readWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

I was told by someone in the business that Assos have no need to pursue team sponsorship as it's so costly and they are arguably the #1 brand. Only the Swiss riders get the kit for national or Olympic competition. Santini or Sportful or Veermarc seem to be the Team suppliers of choice. Rapha have stopped at the top of the game imo.M.Rushton0

please, please, please....let it be Aldi0 -
Agreed, Rapha have got enough out of the deal. Smart move by them I think.
I did hear that the kit the pro's ride isnt made by Rapha, but by Moa I think it was.Scott Addict 2011

Going on the basis on my last Assos purchases, yes...though to be fair, bloody good shorts

Do Rapha put their numbers out anywhere other than Companies House?
Not that I can see on any of the databases I can get on. It's just the same numbers as you can get on the Companies House accounts. They're growing pretty fast by the looks of it (I guess that much is obvious without looking at their accounts...).0 -
I wonder if Nike will do it?0

No obligation to, no driver. Private ownership and all that0 -

Sky will hold a beauty parade. Be interesting to see who they end up with0 -

Pre tax profits fell 16.5% to £507,888 even after 37% turnover increase to £39m.
Small margins innit!0 -
I did hear that the kit the pro's ride isnt made by Rapha, but by Moa I think it was.
Moa made the adidas gear the team had until the 2013 season.
One of the reasons that Sky wanted to change supplier was the turnaround time for the delivery of new gear with updated logos, which happened surprisingly often, although doesn't seem to change much now that Rapha supply the kit.
Also, the Rapha deal incorporated a revenue share of replica kit sold whilst the previous deal was cash only.0 -

Assoss stuff can be found in sales, I think that's the biggest difference. ProTeam vs Mille* though are pretty similar

Sounds like plenty of capex going on... shops and staff all over the US of A...0 -
I wonder if Nike will do it?
I hope someone like Nike does do it, maybe then we'll get proper sizing for everyday riders instead of that XXL size that just about fits around my left b*llock from Rapha.
Rapha is overhyped and overpriced in my opinion.0 -

My main gripe with Rapha is that it's too big.
The pro stuff fits well but even the xs is a shade too long and I'm 1710 -

That's only really the same info as the Companies House stuff.
To be fair there's quite a lot of stuff in there anyway.0 -

is that confirmed ? it was their choice, not they were faced with hobsons choice they didnt like because TeamSky wanted something they felt unable to deliver or couldnt afford.
Its just their open letter doesnt come across as such a confident weve achieved our goals/aims blah blah blah that we set out to onwards and upwards letter, it feels more downbeat in that they couldnt continue with it, so choice is a very key element I feel in this
TeamSky havent even put it in the news section of their website yet, and gave it less than 140chars summation in a tweet, even less if you exclude the bit about how excited they maybe about their 2016 kit which is no doubt black with a blue stripe.0 -
