Rapha & Team SKY

We re the same height!
We have different positions on the bike.
The zipper regularly digs into my body as I lean over to reach the bars. If it was an inch shorter it'd be perfect.
I would accept that on "club" kit - not on "pro" kit.0 -
Rapha jerseys fit me better than anything else I've tried. And their jackets. I'm a large. 6'1" and 185lbs. Aside from the pro team jersey but that's more that I don't get on with the collar design.
Much prefer Assos for shorts and leg wear generally though.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -

OK, I dig your vibe...I don't have any of the PT jerseys co I like the wool ones (which alos look better on the fuller figure) and most of those are nt full zip so no wonder I ve not run in to that problemWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

So people were genuinely barking mad enough to vote on something that they've got absolutely no influence over as it'll be a commercial decision taken by SDB and the rest of the Imperial Ruling Council.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Barking mad is a bit of an overreaction, no? i expect the poll will have appeared on the same page as an article announcing the decision, so will have taken all of two seconds.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -

No it isn't. It's a ridiculous as voting on what engine Red Bull should have in their F1 car next year or whether Valentino Rossi should start based on his qualification time or at the back of the grid in the Valencia MotoGP this weekend. There's absolutely no chance of that poll having any effect on what is chosen so why bother? (Well we know the answer to that, clicking traffic generates revenue )Trail fun - Transition Bandit

Shouting at the TV makes f*** all difference either...“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

Alright.
I know assos has this cult status as "the best performing kit ever", particularly the shorts....
But guys, listen to me. Their kit looks sh!t.
I don't know how they make Lycra shorts look bad but Christ they manage it.
Nowadays most kit is really good so you don't need to sacrifice your style for comfort & performance.
Sure 10 years ago maybe not, but now there is no excuse.0 -
^ So true Rick! They cannot make kit look good at all, looks like its designed by a techno raver. Whatever anyone thinks of Rapha, it cannot be denied they design kit that looks fantastic.0
-
I'm not an Assos fan. I bought a pair of their shorts in a sale in 2009 for £80. They are undoubtedly well made but they are the shorts of last resort for comfort for me.
Changing the topic slightly I'd like to see Sky move away from that tedious black kit with a blue stripe0 -
It's just kit. Assos can make it anyway the customer desires but they won't because they don't get involved with the expense. Rapha used Sky to up their image and it worked brilliantly for them. Their kit bags, the mesh jerseys etc appeared in Rapha first. Castelli may a good choice. Saddleback distribute Sidi and Castelli in the UK and Sky have a big share in Italy. So an Italian set up (albeit with Shimano) would be a nice arrangement but it will be expensive.M.Rushton0

Surely SDB only has a vote in the final decision based on those brands that can afford it, which I suspect isn't many. Don't forget it's not just the supply of kit, but oodles of R&D promise too.0
-
MTN-Quebeka (DD) and Cannonade already with Castelli. Be surprised if Sky went there too.
It could well be a smaller boutique brand - there are many in Italy.
But my guess would be Bioracer. I believe they already make the skinsuits - wouldn't be a huge leap to use them as the full supplier - and their kit would be up to the task.0 -

If my experience with endura is anything to go by, Sky should have ordered the gear in july if they want any chance of having it for next season."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

The poll asks the question the wrong way round. "Which manufacturer would benefit most from sponsoring Team Sky?" is the real marketing test.
Given the saturation of Castelli in the UK retail scene, I doubt they need the extra exposure.0 -

+1
When I was scouting for a club kit supplier a few years ago they wouldn't even reply to my enquiries. I chased and they came up with a hamster ate my homework-esque excuse. I thought if it was this hard at this stage it wasn't worth pursuing*
*I fully appreciate that if Sky were interested they would fawn all over them.0 -

Back in Feb I heard from a Rapha guy who works on the Sky relationship that many in the team want(ed) to move to the blue they've been using more this year for jackets etc, but that Sky the sponsor love the black0 -

That's a shame the blue kit would look good. Then again if it was down to me every kit would look like the contents of a bag of skittles. I love the Mapei/Banesto/GAN years for kit0 -
Didn't froome basically say he wanted the blue a couple of months ago when they were doing kit fittings? I prefer the blue but love that the black gives social media another thing to whinge about - too much black in the peloton0
-
Their Twitter feed did mention a move to blue with white accents, and said there was a surprise this year.
The problem with keeping the same kit each season is their fans won't need to upgrade their wardrobe each year!0 -
