    The Nice Guys.

Kind of an old school PI crime film dressed as Starsky and Hutch. Every PI has a bright female secretary who looks after him and does a bit of detective work on the sly. In this story it's the detectives 13 year old daughter who sneaks into parties with him to question porn actresses while watching their movies. I guess thats Hollywood.

The underling caper is a car manufacturer has been deceiving their customers with a catalytic converter that doesn't work. Air pollution is the result. I wonder how long it takes to come up with a script, get the actors and crew together and turn out a movie? Because there's something very topical and familiar about the plot. The final word is that someone is always there to protect Detroit, that great motor manufacturing city that only a few years ago was bankrupt.

    Deadpool.

Rather refreshing take on the whole Super Hero film (of which I have seen many, and been disappointed by a lot too). The story is straight forward, and predictable (let's be honest) but the OTT violence and gore, coupled with the fast, sarcastic and potty mouthed script made it a most amusing rewatch (saw it at the cinema upon release, and got the bluray yesterday evening).

Some film on movies4men. When an iceberg turns up in Miami harbour, a climatologist realises that the Earth's poles are about to flip, causing global climate disaster. He then runs a computer simulation to predict the course of events. The computer came back with the answer "Complete equatorial glaciation in 4 hours 23 minutes".

That's the point I turned it off.

The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.
Brilliant portrayal by Jason Watkins of the persecuted landlord during the investigation of the Jo Yeates murder in Bristol. The police, media and general public should hang their heads in shame for what they did to this chap.
I particularly liked one of the end scenes where he meets Steve Coogan at the Leveson Inquiry.

    Finding Dory

Not as good as Finding Nemo but quite good all the same.

However as with all Pixar films it started with a five minute short, on this occasion about a Sandpiper on a beach, it was as usual with Pixar a high quality affair and I have to say that I was mesmerised by the animated quality of the sand, it was extraordinary!! Honestly take it from me go and see for yourself!

I really wanted to see this, but my three year old ruined the whole experience by telling me that they did, indeed, find the missing fish.

It's been out for a while but the Mrs and I were searching for a pay per view movie and landed on it. I laughed more than I have at a film for ages and ages.

I watched Jersey Boys (the Clint Eastwood film) last night. Free on Amazon Prime. Great music and a decent story, nicely told,

    BFG. Excellent.

Must I now speak giant talk trollop to tiddlers for a month?

They loved it (4 and 5). Pity about the continuous chatter in the audience and rustling noises.

One summer evening a long time ago, in the company of one rare, fair women, sat next to my camper van waiting for a piece of 12" fuel pipe, having spilt some fuel on the ferry  to arrive via an agent of the AA, we sat looking around. It was calm and warm and all the lights reflected and twinkled on the water.
What a stunning place it was in that moment. The whole of the Clyde estuary is so under-rated and oft over looked.

Can't do it. Haven't forgiven Deep Purple for that Hey Joe cover they did.

Hadn't seen it in years & forgot how watchable it was for a (sort of) romcom. Disillusioned professional killer returns to his home town and goes to his high school reunion, whilst simultaneously being on a job and being stalked by the NSA, a rival who is trying to create a cartel, and another hitman hired to kill him because a previous client's dog got whacked by mistake. Some funny lines & a decent soundtrack.

"They've all made themselves a part of something and they can talk about what they do. What am I gonna say? "I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork. How've you been?"

Cracking film. Rare 'cos Mrs SecretSam likes it. Because John Cusack is in it.

BTW: EPO references when talking about other half??????

It's just a hill. Get over it.

    EPO LOL.

Jason Bourne. Frankly, not a patch on Bournes 1-3

I've "finally" accepted that Bournes 1-3 are so un-related to the books, which were some of my favourite growing up, that I don't mind having them on in the background.
So if the new one is even worse, I'm just going to ignore it.

Managed to watch Star Wars 7 last night, while ironing. Kept me entertained in the mindless slog.

Quite good. Not gripping, not exciting but just a solid SciFi type film.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film, but as an avid fan of the book knew that it missed so much.

I love them to - my favourite is Titan AE, although I've not seen it in a good number of years.
