Whilst stood near the pit area of a high profile UK crit, I saw a rider from one of the lesser teams take a lap out for a "mechanical" during the late stages of the race. He had just been gapped by the lead group and was blowing like a good 'un. He and the mechanic went through the motions of swapping bikes. There was nothing apparently wrong with the replaced bike. When the group came around again, he rejoined them and managed to hang on to the finish.
This little anecdote will have limited appeal on account of naming no names (and being a chipper in terms of international prestige): but the look of incredulity on the face of the lady next to me who saw it, followed with "I used to like *~~~~*, but that cheating wa---r can f*ck right off now...", was a treat.

Well, there was so much kicking off about it in the Tour Series (I recall John Herety and Malcolm Elliott having a stand up row in the pits 2-3 years ago in either Lincoln or Durham where i think it was JH accusing ME of his team being up to such cheeky shenanigans) that TS have changed the rules - no laps out allowed now0 -
Contador punching a spectator dressed as a doctor in the 2011 TdF
Wiggo's expletive-laden outburst about doping allegations in 2012
Handbags between Gianluca Brambilla & Ivan Rovny in the 2014 Vuelta - both DQ'd
Cadel Evans & Daniele Rhigi in the 2010 Giro - frankly a 5 year old can fight better than that. Especially in Glasgow
Nairo Quintana adjusting overshoes/shoes (?) on the 2014 Vuelta ITT - just before crashing spectacularly
Jonny Hoogerland still wins though. Mind you, LA's offroad jaunt on the 2003 Tour is a worthy contender. So many to choose from...."Get a bicycle. You won't regret it if you live"

This is really annoying me because I can't remember what race it was in but last year two guys were riding side by side up a climb and the one rider looked round to his left and rode straight across the other rider and took them both out. It looked ridiculously amateurish.
Can anyone remember that or find a clip?0 -
Andy Schleck doing anything except riding uphill.
Especially riding a TT in Yellow at the '11 tour and still being totally shoot.0 -

Was it last year? I'm thinking Paris Nice this year, but I could be totally wrong. Anyone?Correlation is not causation.0 -

No that's not it. It was a race somewhere with proper climbs e.g. a MTF so not the Benelux.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Yeah it's definitely day before 2006 tour.
The rest, bar '98 tour, is small fry.
Yes. But this falls foul of the official rule of this thread, which is "NO DOPING".Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Who was it had the 'fight' about 3 or 4 years back using their wheel as a weapon? Then there's Tyler Farrar's 'hold me back' bus incident where no-one held him back and he didn't know what to do!0

As a fan of cycling full time since about 2005, this video is something I never thought I'd see ten years later

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8Wh8OLE9Qc'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0 -

Tyler Farrar does not know his way around a pub car park. I love Vaughters or whoever in the background actually saying "it's not worth it Ty!"
Remember Rene Hassalbacher of Gerolsteiner causing a mass pile up on stage one of the 2003 Tour (the one that broke Hamilton's collarbone)? Robbie McEwen went looking for him and probably did have to be held back. Then he caused another mass pile up a couple of years later and McEwen just sidled up to him when he was still groaning on the floor and just said "Well mate, you've done it again""In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Yes! Nice one AtC. It feels longer than 6 months ago. TJ's face is like "are you serious?"0 -

Ben King having his Garmin - and nearly his bike - nicked by some porker on stage 4 of the Vuelta this year. And Vino saying "fair play in cycling is dead". Right....."Get a bicycle. You won't regret it if you live"
