Don't feed the troll.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

UCI said he held on for 100m so they had to expell him. In a 3k race. Give me a break.
Bloody social media.
You sane, bolt onto a car is cheating0 -
Wow Sky fan boys and girls who were in tears at Porte losing two minutes are really revelling in Nibali's departure.
I cant believe the expulsion. It just stinks. As you all know it is done all the time just like drafting beiind cars. Rich, do you have the exact rule. Unbelievable. UCI giving way to sensatioalism and clear positive discrimination going on here. Big loss for the race.
This one you mean?18. Rider holding on to his team's vehicle
Rider: elimination and 200."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Rubbing salt into the wounds, Nibali's Strava file has just been flagged.
Best one yet
Bahahaha0 -
Can't believe my man Nibali cheated like that. There goes my podium prediction.0

What positive discrimination ? The definition of which is:
"the act of giving advantage to those groups in society that are often treated unfairly because of their race, sex, etc."
If the car hadn't more than doubled it's speed, and also brake checked the 2 riders immediately behind Nibali, he may have got away with it.

This was a sensible discussion about a flagrant bit of cheating, till this post. Up to your usual standard, sadly.
If its some rider you dont like, ie most riders, its rules is rules. If If its "My man" its simply nit picking and not fair. He blatantly broke the rules so he is out. Shame but thats life.0 -

I think you might find he was shopped by the twenty or so riders he left for dead when he miraculously accelerated to 80 kph and left them several hundered metres behind!
He will be sorely missed from the race because we won't have to put up with his petulant whining anymore.0 -

In this case the car drove up to the front of the bunch and pulled the front man away from them like it was an attack.Twitter: @RichN950 -
Frenchie, you'd do better getting irritated with Nibali & his DS accomplice for ruining the spectacle, not the rule enforcers.0

Except that wouldn't provoke numerous indignant replies though would it0 -

I didn't!!0

People are being quick to judge Vince: maybe it's an eyesight thing - like at the Tour when he turned around twice at the exact moment Froome had technical issues but didn't see him, despite only being 6ft away - he might have turned around when he heard his DS today shouting "hold on!" and didn't notice he was driving a car...?0

Paolo Tiralongo.
How was he allowed to finish in that state? Rider welfare really isn't a priority is it?0 -
It's a DQ offence, but he was doing it to get back in the race after a crash as I understand it, that he wasn't responsible for? It's more a taking a banned substance with no tue, but that could be tue'd offence than an epo offence as an analogy?http://www.georgesfoundation.org

He shouldn't have been arsing about at the back of the peloton. The crash didn't catch out any of the other GC riders.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

The crash happened towards the front of the peloton and Aru also hit the deck."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Yes it does look bad. I am sure the Doctors check the rider out for concussion though and they get the best/quick care on and off the bike.0 -

Desperate and dirty at the Tour and now this.... Valverde is going to have to do something despicable pretty soon if he's to keep his title of "Most Dastardly".0 -

What? It's just made me crack up at the sheer and utter ludicrousness of it. F*cking wow.
Not funny, but so funny.0 -

And it's not a big loss for the race. Nibbles is finished now with the new testing protocol.0 -

Wondered why I missed it live so I checked the British Eurosport footage I had on Tivo.
BE leave coverage for an ad break at 17.6km and return at 15.6km (leader's distance from the finish). Nibali is now on a uphill drag being pulled along by a team mate with the back of the line of teams cars behind the peloton visible ahead.
The International Eurosport YouTube footage shows Nibali grabbing the team car at 15.8km (hence BE missing it) and leaving the astonished group of chasers behind. At that point he's roughly 2.13 behind the leader and 1.33 behind the group of GC favourites (based on the timings at the sprint point at the top of the climb into Alora which they've not long been through).
Nibali's "assistance" allows him to cut that 1.33 gap down enough to smell the exhaust fumes of the convoy which suggests that he's lucky the helicopter footage cuts away so quickly.0 -

Plenty of others crashed at the same time and either got back under their own steam or lost time. Astana had a rider give his bike to Aru so it's clear where their priorities lay and their mechanic took an age to get there.0 -
The irony of this expulsion....
FF's comments are actually growing on me too0 -

In an alternative kind of way, they are very funny. Or deluded.0 -
Nibz and the Astana DS in question have given interview to GdS and Eurosport (both for tomorrow) in which they 'explain' what happened
I'm plumping for 'UCI biased against Astana cos they wanted them off WT but were thwarted by that nice Licence Commission', coupled with 'it's common practice for a car to be help a rider back after a crash, and everyone does it'*
*tho not at warp speed uphill with the DS flooring the pedals and with TV helicopter directly ahead, perhaps0 -

Looking forward to them explaining what happened actually. Even if it's just to check against what I think happened. (Which, for reference, is that a car pulled up by the side of Nibali and whisked him away at approx double the speed he could have managed himself, and without expending any energy).0
