How do he or the Astana DS/driver think they can just do that right in front of other riders? Astounding arrogance and contempt for their colleagues, and cycling fans globally of course.
I can't help thinking they MUST have had a Brian Moore/Neil Back style look around to see if there were any moto cameras near by, not seen any and thought, "you know what, we can get away with this...", having forgotten about the helicopter...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

When the rider is stranded alone way behind the peleton - yep all the time. But not to scoop a famous and well-watched rider off the front of a large pack and accelerate him up to about 80kph.
Dq'd for rule breach aggravated by extreme lack of subtlety - a shame as he does enliven any race.0 -
I pretty sure that a car driving up to the front of a group and then dragging the guy on the front a few hundred of yards up the road doesn't happen much.Bet it does happen a lot.

Due to the delays in getting trained people from vehicles to crash victims in big pileups, each team now has a nominated medic to perform triage and treat simple injuries until a professional arrives on the scene.

Quite. To have been deliberately engineered so that Nibz could stick 2 fingers up to Vino & stomp off home:
1. Would have needed the collusion not just of the DS driving the car but also Martinelli sat beside him
2. Nibz is supposedly a proud man (I know I know). Can't see him pulling a stunt like this deliberately just to get thrown off the race with all the rebound on his name and rep
I think that his head has been all over the place since the Astana positives and the licence biz. And I think the mentality of these guys is as per doping "if everyone does it, it's not cheating"0 -
