La Vuelta 2015 S#1 - Puerto Banús / Marbella **SPOILERS**

Sky taking it hard here but it seems others rode this the same way as them.0

Sky on a club run
I think they were dead right. There were only a few places on the course where the guy on the front could peel off and go back down the line, and even then only if he did it sharpish-like. The course was a joke and Sky and a few other teams treated it with the contempt it deserved.
In fairness to Froome and Sky, Froomie says in every interview he has done so far how much he loves this race and is looking forward to it. They have nothing against the race or the Spanish public, just that stupid stage.

Can anybody think of a worse opening stage or even simply a worse stage at all....ever....in the history of time?
It even tops the descending TTs in a 'wtf were you thinking?' contest.0 -
That was a load of toot
What a start to a grand tour0 -
What an absolute load of nonsense, not surprised teams eased off give the stage had been neutralised.
Glad the racing finally starts today.0 -

That was obviously crap, but I'm rationalising it as the first team presentation that I have ever bothered to watch. The race hasnt started, but I know more of the team line ups than I have done before the start of any GT before.
Thank you Vuelta :?0 -

Meh, it's the Vuelta.
It's "grand" in theory, rarely in practice.0 -
I don't know why Sky are coming in for criticism. The stage was neutralised, so why on earth would you risk injury on a sandy course? They did exactly what most other teams did, and exactly what I would have done under the circumstances. As usual the anti-Sky brigade are out on force.
(And no I'm not a Sky fanboi).0 -
So my decision to take up an invitation for an early evening sail on the Markermeer followed by a lovely BBQ in Hoorn was not wrong? Good.Correlation is not causation.0

Arguably tb]he most underwhelming start to any Grand Tour, thanks to the Vuelta organisers. Whoever it was in [Marbella stumped up the cash for the "privilege" of hosting this stage will be looking for a partial refund. DD.
They got what they wanted a travelogue of the beach and bars to look at with cyclists passing by.
They got their money's worth.Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -
