Stage 3 also looks a bit dodgy
NOPE!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Stage 4 is ok though0

That'll stir the disc brake pot some more.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Chris Froome, head down getting on with practice.0 -
Here's a good one - who gets to wear the Maillot Rojo on Sunday? First across the line from the "winning" team tomorrow or no-one at all?0

Me. I get to wear it. Red is not my colour mind but I'll make the sacrifice this once.Correlation is not causation.0 -

My Dad seems to think tomorrow's opening TTT on the beach is pretty funny...Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
Ridiculous first stage along sand and a twisty 'boarwalk' ffs. I'm all for cobbles and novelty but now just seems they've wasted a stage given its going to neutralised. I'm sure they could found a nice 'road' along the coast there to make it a nice spectacle.0

Froome looking a tad heavier than his Skeletor self at the team presentation last night
Those lucrative post-Tour crits bring in the bunce but they take their toll
A fact which I'm sure won't have passed the notice of the likes of Nairo & Valverde0 -

Yeah I'm not that surprised to be honest. He has done a solid block of training though including focussing on the TT. Have a feeling that Aru and Quintana with Landa sticking his ore in will be the ones to watch. If Froome is there or thereabouts come the TT though, he may be in with a shout. The final week could've been much worse which gives him a sliver of a chance but he may well be out of it by then.0 -

I'd certainly be saving my Benjamins rather than sticking any on him
Those extra kgs (and yeah, course it's all relative) are gonna tell, I think0 -

Seems Sky as Brailsford has stated, see riding the Vuelta as basically training for next years tour to go into the offseason with miles in the bank. I don't doubt Froome is going to win but he clearly enjoys riding the Vuelta where there's less scrutiny/aggro compared to the tour so if he doesn't win I can't imagine it being seen as a huge failure. It'll be a bonus.0 -

I've got to say he looks incredibly fat. At this rate he'll be on half-ton hospital by the end of the month, being moved out of his armchair with a crane.0 -
Do wonder with Froome if his goals for this season have been met, looks like a very competitive Vuelta - wonder if Sky, for the sake of team dynamics, will let Henao or Nieve have a crack or even just target a number of stage wins.0

Well I am fully expecting Froome not to win. I will be very surprised if he does. Given his sole talent relies on peaking once a year, having 0% body fat and total team support racing he should get pounded. After all, he is no natural GT rider like Contador or Quintana.Contador is the Greatest0

I'd say he's pretty good. Wins Dauphine, Crit international and Romandie without even peaking.
You said he'd get pounded at the Tour. By Contador.0 -

He got pounded at last year's Vuelta when he dropped out of the Tour early doors and his main competitor was recovering from a broken leg. Fully expect his performances to be significantly below those of the Tour.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Well I can say I'm really excited about the prospect of The Greatest Stage Race of His Generation schooling 'Posh Boy' Chris 'Zero to Hero' Froome and his Legion of Cyclobots on Pure Racing and bringing joy to Cycling Fans Globally.........wait....this just in.....CONTADOR ISN'T RACING!!!!!“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

For me the Podium will be: Froome, Landa, Quintana. I fancied Vavlverde but I think he will hold something back for the WC.0

It's true Froome isn't a stage racing talent. He's only won 2 Tours, 3 GT 2nd places and a 4th. Not to mention a couple of Dauphines and Romandies as well as a host of others. I think your sole talent is being deluded that a post-ban Contador is a better racer.0 -
I'm amazed Frenchie hasn't accepted yet that 2009 will be Contadors last TdF win
I think Froome will do well in this one. Will be interesting to see how Quintana reacts. It's interesting having him, Froome and Nibs all there with the Tour in their legs.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
A couple of Valverde Vuelta stats:
Valverde has never finished outside the top 5 in the Vuelta (8 finishes + 1 DNF)
Valverde has finished both the Tour and Vuelta on four different occasions. In each case he finished higher on GC in the Vuelta.
Interesting. What an athelete.Contador is the Greatest0
