While we’re on the topic of Contador does anyone remember when he won a pan flat 9 km prologue in Paris-Nice a few years ago against the like of TT heavyweights Wiggins, Martin (Tony no less) and Millar?!
These days he (and Froome) lose 50-58 seconds to the likes of Martin in 13 km pan flat TTs!
Ah yes, the one where Wiggins was riding into a headwind caused by the helicopter.stefrees wrote:afx237vi wrote:Why would Contador dope for Paris-Nice? Doesn't make sense.
no it doesn't. i dont want him to test positive as i actually like the guy. but this result just feels, well, ive felt this way before and its not a nice feeling
Contador has always been excellent in against the watch, After the ASO exclusion of last year he will want to send a message, which this victory would have.
His form is good and this is his second TT win of the year so its not that surprising.

I'd suggest we be more worried about GT racing returning to a predictable formula of ITT domination, sparodic attacks on the odd MTF and a train pulling the legs off all the climbing opposition over the cols.
Unless, of course, Ricco comes back and has become a super, butt kicking trialist.

To see a truly great thread-wrecker in the wild, have a butcher's at the Quintana Discussion thread on another well known forum.

That they are psychologically flawed
That their obsession is similar to 'truther'/'free energy'/'alien' conspiracy theorists.
I hope they can put this all to bed, by being transparent and revealing their identity.

As someone who doesn't have a clue about all this data, can someone explain how it's possible that Gesink's W/KG was at 5.7/8 whereas Froome's is at around the same? Not implying anything as I believe Sky to be clean, I'm just genuinely interested.0

Think this is hugely disrespectful to froome. I believe he is simply the better athlete than any of his opponents. Sky also have massive fund and backing so the team is the most professional.0

For all their ramblings, the folks in the Clinic do raise some valid questions.
Mostly - about Froome's weight. It's unlikely that he actually weighs 67.5kg - and probably significantly less by the end of a hot stage. Of course, this could be easily verified with a set of scales, but that probably won't happen!
The "overestimation' of power by 6% due to the Asymmetric chainrings is also probably being generous.
But by releasing the data and stating his weight and this overestimation, they have come up with a very plausible set of figures to calm the storm.
I wonder if other teams (Movistar, Saxo, etc) are looking at the their own figures for the same part of the climb and nodding in agreement or calling BS quietly.0 -
Fairly sure you can manipulate the measurements from a power meter quite easily.
I think what they've said is valid. They've given all that info to UKAD, and UKAD weren't fussed.
I think it's a fool's game trying to work out if someone is doping by what they do on a bike. Defeats the point of sport in many respects.0 -

Can I add a theory for Froome's high cadence attacks? Riding in Kenya he would have been riding MTBS. Now there comes a point - actually it come quite quickly - where you reach the top of your 42x11 ish gear and so you have to spin. So it is poiible that Froome high cadence is a throwback.to that. I also recon that the elbows out position is due to that tooWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

I'm not going to do the sums - I don't know how. I suspect that Froome's actual power was maybe slightly higher (Stages claim a 5% error, not the 6% Kerrison does - which would Froome on parity with Gesink). Which means that Froome's 14 minutes of extra drafting lead to an extra 1 min 33? Seems to be realistic to me. (Other factors would have contributed as well - that's where the marginal gains can contribute a few more watts saving)Twitter: @RichN950 -

Presumably we are all assuming that, when comparing to 10 years ago, the bikes are a) the same weight and b) transfer the power into the road in the same fashion.
And all the kit they wear is no lighter. Nor are the wheels more aerodynamicly efficient.0
