Froome's Data Hacked

Shamelessly nicked from the clinic, but this data from the 2011 Vuelta TT on stage 10 shows similar things. Max HR is 169bpm. It must be something specific to Froome's physiology.

Yes I pointed this out on twitter and got limited response from him.Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -
Ideal opportunity for any new learned members to explain why Ventoux is evidence of Froome being on the same level as known dopers.0

Because your calculations don't include the WTq* or the cDLS**, which clearly show his performance wasn't possible without artificial means.

I wonder which genius was behind the publication of this bombshell refutation of their 'mutant' theory. I think Vayer has been compromised by Sky in the same way UCI reeled-in Overlord....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

All this talk about what propels Froome, but what if he's being drawn up climbs by magnets?
I was mucking about with some neodymium magnets and they exert an incredible force...
Has anyone seen that big tower on the summit of Ventoux be used for anything else?0 -

Now we know the real purpose of those funny chainrings!0 -
. He sits on twitter taking cheap potshots almost exclusively at Sky, retweeting inflammatory nonsense, getting people all riled up, and then he'll write 3 paragraphs about the dangers of pre-judging, and how context is important, and how he just wants more openness and dialogue. He's a complete hypocrite. A troll hiding behind a sheen of respectability.

I genuinely wonder if Tucker ever watches these races he comments on. He seems to think that the climbs are done in isolation which no regard to tactics - as if they are all always done at top pace like a time trial. He constantly makes comparisons to 100m in athletics, which is of course run in lanes and with no tactics. If someone presented to him the same assumptions and conceits he relies on when analysing 5000 or 10000m he would laugh them out of townTwitter: @RichN950 -
I just think it's funny that Murdoch employees are bitching about being hacked!!!

Yeah because those 5k and 10k runners are clean a whistle, right Mo?0 -
So, apparently not hacked but leaked...

Right. Normal people. With a background in sports science, perhaps? Should we also publish some pictures from CERN and ask people what sort of particles they're looking at?Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Rubbish. It's blatant evidence of a motor in his frame.
Sky uses stages so a motor in his frame or BB would no doubt see a reduction in power output to the crank
Zing!
I thought about making a similar gag, but Sky were on SRM in 2013.
See I knew that. So my joke still makes sense and is brilliant.0 -

No, because Contador is a cheat and the clinic don't actually mind cheats, after all according them every professional athlete is cheating anyway.
What they can't stand is (this is their version of reality) Sky pretending to be clean when they're all on a massive doping program overseen by SDB, Froome is as smug as Lance was and they are defended by nationalistic 'Skybots' who are completely blind to the fact their favourite team is a massive fraud.0 -
So basically what has been leaked is a power file that is not suspicious? And Sky are pissed off because now everyone knows what they need to do to beat Froome?
The Clinic is hilarious... The power file is automatically suspicious because it's Froome's
I wonder what people would think if they saw the data without a name attached? Maybe excluding the absolute power and just giving the power-to-weight.0 -
Just watched bits of it again on the vimeo link above - frankly it is worth watching just cos of the spectacular riding and having the heart rate / power just adds to the interest.
I would love to know what Richie said to Chris (and in effect to Bertie as well) when he pulled to the side.0 -

Might be quite good to set this up on the turbo, try and match the % of FTP output based on him keeping that up for an hour."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Needs to get that amputation seen to by Alberto's surgeon.
When the climb is so Mont Ventoux-like, you can't draw any conclusions from the numbers on a single ascent. At least this is the narrative now that there's a very funny table circulating showing Froome's Ventoux numbers - when he went faster than Lance - wouldn't have made the 2014 Tour podium.
Vayer has put both feet in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Where are all the 'they're all at it' 'why would they stop' people now we have real data?...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
That video - 32:00 "goodness me that's a first - someone's own camera on a boom [it's a selfie stick], that's a good one - let's hope that doesn't catch on". Think Kirby's hopes have been dashed, they're fecking everywhere now.0

Regarding the accuracy of indirect estimation of power output from uphill performance in cycling ...
"The mean estimated values are close to the power-output values measured by power meters, but the random error is between ±6% and ±10%. Moreover, at the power outputs (>400 W) produced by professional riders, this error is likely to be higher. This observation calls into question the validity of releasing individual values without reporting the range of random errors."

With that sort of margin I would like to point out that Benoît Vaugrenard should be wearing the maillot jaune.
to be fair +/- 6% is both very good for an estimate and at the same time not very useful. A lot of the error will be due to wind resistance (prevailing wind, drafting - not insignificant at 20-25kph) and unknowns like overall rider weight. Different road surfaces can account for a percent or two.BASI Nordic Ski Instructor

I wish I'd done it now, but I was going to guess that the final climb would be done at 6.05W/kg. So my guess before the climb even happened was within 1% of the estimates of the climbs. These days of them waiting for the last climb and riding it as a paced time trial, you should be able to guess within about 2 or 3%Twitter: @RichN950

Here's what I find funny.
As the actual average watts was close to the estimate, the likes of Tucker said this was proof that it wan't pseudoscience.
Well I'll tell you what is pseudoscience. Using a single data point as proof of something. (The real proof is the lack of contrary evidence).
In their eagerness to dismiss the pseudoscience tag they have shown themselves to be just that.Twitter: @RichN950
