Thanks. I was hoping Vanmarcke might have a chance but it sounds as if it's a bit too easy for him.
Boonen's sounding quite bullish about his chances.0 -

Lotto have 20 riders!!! Topsport 21!
Keisse still slated to start despite his "career threatening" injury."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Strong man Mullen wins the Irish TT.
Took both the U23 and Elite titles....with 18 year old Eddie Dunbar (not a TT specialist unlike Mullen) coming second. It'll be awesome if Dunbar can take the road race.0 -
Oh wow, nice work my man Dunbar. Would love him to take the RR.Contador is the Greatest0

Hang on
Last year he came first in the TT but the Elite title went to Hutch as Mullen was U23.
What's different this year?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

Dunbar, not a TT rider at all really, being much more the climber, was only 25 secs back on Mullen.Larsson wins Swedish TT. Yawn.

Good
Dunbar and Mullen making the future of Irish cycling loo a little brighter. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -
Jurgen Van Den Broeck wins the Belgian TT champs (for what that's worth...)
Yves Lampaert and Kristoff Vandewalle 2nd and 3rd"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

GB start list. I expect JTL Condor to boss it, with their 11 riders!0 -
Barta wins Czech again and Sagan wins Slovakia again.Contador is the Greatest0

Sky looking thin on the ground for the British Champs. High chance of the title going to OGE instead this year
They've got 4 riders, but the whole team is only 7 I think. Missing Froome, Thomas and Swift. Admittedly those three are pretty strong! Wonder why Swift isn't riding?0 -
Nice to see Lizzie Armitstead is down to ride. Looks like a big field.0

It's a big field yes but basically padding. All the ones I have watched, basically Sky drop all but the WT riders and a handful of other riders whenever they feel like it then the training ride hots up and 5 riders duke it out.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Precisely. As I have always said it is about strength in depth. You will get a handful of relatively superb riders in any country.
Wiggins
Dowsett
Froome
Thomas
Would be as strong a group as any nation.
Not sure I could list 5 to 8, but that would be true for any nation.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

Sounds OK to me! It's a tough course and if there's the 9 WT riders plus the 6 or so conti and pro conti riders 'duking' it out it could be a good race. Lots of filler obviously but I kinda like to see the odd 'nobody' possibly doing the ride of his life.0 -

No Stannard?
At least one of the Yates will be on that list soon.0 -
Given that Britain has only one World Tour team and no World Tour races you could say that we're actually over-represented in terms of riders at the top of the sport. If some of the current crop of domestic teams fulfil their ambitions to go pro-conti then I'm sure the 'strength in depth' of British riders will increase.
Anyway, back to the racing, it looks like a good course for the British National Champs and it should make for some good racing this weekend. I'd like to see the Yates's do well, it would be great if one of them got the jersey - I'm sure they'd represent it well at the TdF. It would hopefully help the public see that British cycling (small c) exists beyond the confines of British Cycling/Team Sky too.0 -
Tekkers takes Eritrea
Daniel Teklehaimanot has just won the Eritrean national time trial
Not exactly a major surprise. FF will probably say something about depth of field...Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Cummings

Millar, if I can go back a year or two
Kennaugh
Luke Rowe
All would get a ride almost anywhere"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
