Gazzetta reporting that Pozzovivo lost control of the front wheel and landed on his face. Hopefully he will be ok.

    From the CN ticker:

Rai TV says race doctor Giovanni Tredici said of Pozzovivo: There’s good news, I’ve been told that he’s conscious. He hurt his face but its not an emergency situation at the moment. Dr Branca in ambulance 1 is with him but the news is comforting.

    Let's hope this is correct

Race doctor: Pozzovivo is lucid and conscious. He has face trauma, but not an emergency situation.

Cool, so who's left in the bunch, sprinter wise?

Looks pretty small group to me. 60 people max?

    Relief regarding Pozzo.

Would be great if Hansen got this on his birthday. Go on my man.

Hansen, Paterski and Clarke catch Kochetkov @ 10.5km.

16 seconds to peloton @ 10km. Clarke not working in the front group.

I went to Northern Ireland to watch the Giro last year. On the first day Svein Tuft took the pink jersey on his birthday when Orica won the TTT, on the second day Kittel won the sprint on his birthday leading to a non-cycling fan in my wife's family to ask if they always let riders win on their birthdays. Seems to be becoming a bit of a Giro tradition! ;)

Pleased it sounds like Pozzovivo is ok.

edit: Oops - I thought Macaloon was calling the result.

Kachetkov goes again, Clarke on his wheel. 10 secs to peloton max.

    All together again @ 3.4km

No Guardini. I guess they are not confident in his sprinting abilities.

He gave a little grin to the fans, on the apex, straight into the moto lens. Sorry for the meltdown.

How boring and annoying for my bets.

Do Tinkoff-Saxo know themselves what they were doing the whole day?

yep... I seem to recall that they finished last year's Giro with 2 riders!

    Yeah.

Shame my man Pozzovivo is out, especially like that.

I feel some kind of weird bond with him because he's the closest pro to my height and weight.

    Disco Stu.

Stunning route. Not been to Liguria, will have to try to do something about that now.

I reckon Matthews is going for the red overall.

And Oleg has Tinkoff doing a Sky.
