The first big showdown of the season between Cancellara and Vanmarcke, which probably means someone under the radar will win it. Usually a very good race though.

Supposedly there are some pretty significant winds today, particularly in the last 20km. Could mean a solo attack is less likely.

This year's cobbled seasons feels distinctly underweight.

Paterberg Kwaremont combo (as opposed to Kwaremont Paterberg) is a strange one.

Boom, Langeveld and Degenkolb also involved in the crash with Cancellara. No news on the condition of the riders, we'll let you know as soon as we find out.

Gotta keep it fresh! SOme ace roads on this that you won't see on TV, La Houppe is a 2km long hairpinned climb, it also goes the "wrong" way on that lovely cobbled downhill with a chichane over a railway line that everybody who's ridden the Ronde sportif remembers.

My man 3S Devenyns in the early break too!

Group of 13 up the road including nobody of note and 3:40 gap at present

Following that crash, Trek report that Cancellara is back on his bike but in pain. Bonifazio, Langeveld and Wagner didn't continue though and are on their way to hospital.

12 degrees, sunny, and a strong breeze from the South West. One of the better days we've had this spring!

Due to rain for the GW cyclo tomorrow though

Cancellara not holding the bars over the cobbles, wrist injury

Wow. Possibly the first time in a long time that Boonen and Cancellara are both out of the classics?

That's not looking good :( A bit like Froome and Contador abandoning the Tour last year if they're both out of the big ones.

Nibali's searching for flights to Belgium as we speak.

Lucky you. Not so lucky about tomorrow.

  • That crash looks really nasty on Sporza's ticker... Boom down too, 3 abandons as a result including Cancellara. Devolder looks like being the only former winner at De Ronde next week who's not there glad handing Parket barons.
