Yes that was me. I was stuck there for what seemed like ages waiting for one of the guys in the group to catch up, only to realise I had somehow completely missed him and he was already in Brighton

That was the other noteworthy thing about today was how friendly everyone was. I had lots of chats with people all day. I suppose the weather and the cake helped, but I don't think I've done an event as 'social' as today.

Really gutted to have missed it. Still feeling rough today and will have to bail on my weekly 5-a-side too.
Weather seemed nice and would have been nice to meet a few of you.

Good to meet you Steve - glad you made it to Brighton as planned. I did better than expected in the end & made it back by 4.30 or so (Coombe Bottom nearly did for me though - glad I knew what was coming). Managed to tag along with a bunch of guys from West Drayton Tri from Devil's Dyke to the second control, then pretty much solo'd it back to RP. Lovely day riding - I thought it was a really well organised event, though making bacon sarnies available at the first control did make me consider just staying there for a couple of hours & then sodding off home. :D

4:30, that is impressive, I was still sampling the cakes at that point.

Great day out & superbly organised.

Must admit, I did devour a fair few slices of lemon cake there - what a great spread!

Getting there by 4.30 is a very impressive time, I'm certainly of the stop and eat more cake school of cycling.

Daughter and I rolled into the finish with an hour to spare. Got home satisfied but totally spent.

Might pop this on my list of "to-do's" for next year. Sounds like a hoot.

    :D Not this time Ugo.
I should have cycled to and from the event though. It's not like I don't know the traffic around Richmond is heavy on a Sunday.
