Is this going to be like we saw with Porte and Thomas in P-N? Is Porte going to ride up to Kiry?

TJ has a lead into the last 5-600 metres, Kiri+Porte+Atapuma back on with Contador.

Well that was pretty poor racing. TM 1km sprint from the ripped to shreds boy in blue. Can't wait for some proper mountains where we can have some attacks from 10k out and not have to worry about these spurts at the end. Contador has lost those 19/20 times.

Well done the two breakaways and well done TJ.

Bring on the Giro. I hope Contador rips them to shreds.

    Some in-joke?

    Can someone check on Frenchie?

Fair play Teejay, you'd lost so much time yesterday people weren't so worried about you riding away, made sense to try something.

Porte puts 5 seconds into Contador. Impressive ride from Richie, he just waited and let Contador come back to him. Mature ride.

Glad I didn't get my hopes up. That was lame from Contador, Aru, Martin, Talansky, and a shame for 'Sicknote'. I can't shake the feeling that any MTF won by TJ is the result of a miscalculation.

He was no threat to the top guys on GC because of his crash yesterday so they kind of calculated that he could ride away. Porte wasn't trying to take the stage from Teejay at the end he was trying to put some time into Bert.

Riis gone and Bertie's already less than perfect tactics take a nose dive.
Must be feeling the pressure increasing to win something, as each stage passes.

Great bounce back after yesterday's horrific crash, by Tejay.
Bart de Clerq looks to have the GC sewn up.

Chaves and Barguil 13th and 14th.

    Sepulveda got pumped for 15mins.

Guess who else is riding...Dombrowski! Comeback kid is coming back miles and miles down.

Froome must have been in a bad way then just sat up as he finished in the gruppetto.

"I’m a little bit disappointed to take second on the stage," Porte admitted. "Credit to Tejay, he attacked at the right moment. I needed to watch Alberto and Rigo a bit at that point but in terms of how the day went the team were fantastic.
"We took it on over the Creueta and to still have four guys over the top with me speaks volumes of the commitment from the boys. When Alberto attacked on the final climb we had Kiry up the road. He got a bit of a gap initially but I never panicked. I was expecting he’d attack and I was happy to ride back to Kiry – who then rode as Kiry does – like a steamroller! I was coming back at Tejay but just came up a little short.
"Today was a big boost in my morale heading into the Giro. Most of the favourites for that race are here and to distance them was great. I feel a bit like I’m flying under the radar at the moment without the attention of guys like Rigo and Alberto. But I’m really feeling ready to take my opportunity. I’m looking forward to May.”

  • Another good ride from Dan Martin today and it's good to see Atapuma getting stuck in too. The Giro should be a good race as it appears now that there is no nailed-on favourite.

Richie's developing well, folks seem reluctant to recognise he's as good as any in the top flight now.
If dirty bertie is struggling folks like Richie will be the ones to profit.
