Overhead shows Viviani hit Cav's wheel

Sagan clocks up another top 3 placing apparently

Cav moved over (didn't see him there) and there was a bit of overlap with viviani and viv goes down.

    Lotto win with jens debuscchere.

Looked like Cav hit something and moved into Viviani?

Sam Benett 3rd. Viviani is standing, but looks bad.

Bennet started to go and slightly boxed Cav in, Cav had to start the sprint and in doing so clipped Viviani's overlapped wheel

Nothing to it really, just a sprint incident

Cav would likely have won had he not lost his pedal

You can't blame him for that. He made a slight movement. There are a dozen such movements every second in a bunch sprint.

They've had the replay a few times, def looked like he either hit something or some sort of mechanical made the bike step out. Commentators saying mechanical and Cav rode from incident and crossed line un-clipped in.

    Indeed.
Two thirds of my Velogames team sprinters wiped out by Cav's rear wheel. :(

    It was his chain

Gutted my chain came off today as I launched my sprint. Even more for @eliaviviani, as the momentum from loss of torque moved me across him.

    So...is this still SRAM Red's fault?!? ;)

Sounds like EQS Mechanics may need a refresher course or two

Happened to me a week last Monday, but I hit the deck. Still hurts. Cav did well to stay upright - I'm guessing the displaced torque from him was a lot more than I had to deal with as well!

I've crashed from a slipped chain before, so I agree he did well to stay up. Won't make Vivani feel any better, but it is a tough game being a sprinter.

Apparently with FSA crankset and chainrings.

Article saying the chain mysteriously shipped itself off the outside of the big ring. Either he accidentally hit the shift button (which would slightly move the mech outwards for a second), or FSA chainrings are soft as cheese.

Or just bad luck of course.

I've had what Cav has had this week, and can confirm 'explosivity' features a lot.... at both ends

    That was the point yes...

Last year they had a few digs at SRAM and it's kangaroo chains....

    not so much it seems

Sagan has no excuse. He needs to pull something out the bag to earn his 4mill. Cant be getting beat by people who's names you can't pronounce.

What you can't see in that first picture is that Viviani was shaking like the proverbial "shitting dog" when he got back on the bike. Which, to be fair, is entirely understandable - I'd still be laying on the floor crying now.

Surely if he won a stage it would deflect attention from the Greatest Human of His Generation Ever. And that would be wrong. Very wrong.

Wasn't Sagan criticised for winning too many chippers but lacking a really big win, say a monument? Let's see where he' at by Easter. It's still early season
Debusschere us quite easy to pronounce really. It's just 'Debusschere'

After 4 days of having my entire body fall out of my ars*, I think the first few days of @TirrenAdriatico are going to be hard going!

That might explain his ring being worn out!!

Sagan is not your average rider. The boy is super talented and has received accolades I have rarely heard said about anyone else. Someone of his talent should be able to wn at will from Feb to Sep.

Riders who peak for a few races are incredibly boring, like training and have no respect for the fans. All three of these are not attributable to Sagan. He should train harder imo.

He is still only 25 though and even though he should have a huge win by now he is ahead of the curve compared to almost all the greats.

There are no unpronounceable Dutch or Belgium riders in my man list. Sep is an exception as he is known by his first name.
